Re: Thumbnailer Xfce

All the mint editions ship with xplayer which provides a video thumbnailer called xplayer-video-thumbnailer. It's always worked out of the box for me as long as mint-meta-codecs is also checked at install time. Thanks. But in all 3 cases that's not the case on my Desktop and Laptop as well as my br...

Hi crippled,
You have a good Idea, But you should post it in the community page found here under Ideas. The Devs that control such things are more likely to see it there.

Thumbnailer Xfce

I noticed that there is no thumbnailer installed on Linux mint Xfce. I recommend adding Ffmpegthumbnailer so video thumbnails can be displayed by default which would help new users and those wondering why they don't see thumbnails for all their video files.

Re: I have finally stopped distro hopping!

It seems when picking a distro, the biggest decision is what package base you want - debian, ubuntu, RPM, etc. And this is where I really become confused. Why would anyone want Arch or Gentoo or some other minority base? Aren't they just cutting down on their software options dramatically? (Unless ...

Re: Has anyone played around with MX Linux?

I avoided MX linux because of the name of its first "Primary Team Leader" . It's just a name. As long as the developers and the community supporting a distro are not imposing their political beliefs on me (and not oppressive to those with opposite views), I can overlook that. Now, if the name was s...

Re: Window manager broken after last update

The latest update on 7/4/2019 reverts back to xfce 4.12.3. Since I didn't have any issues with xfce 4.13, I am not reverting back to xfce 4.12.3.

That's strange. I don't notice any difference or issue with the last update today. I just have Xfwm4 enable.

Re: Where is newest version 19.2?

speedingcheetah It's indeed unusually late. But: "it's ready when it's ready". All the other distros have stable on time releases. Mint seems to be struggling to keep up. Hope they manage to recover. In the mean time, makes me want to look at other distros more seriously. Manjaro (Arch based) seems...

Re: How many are 100% Linux here?

After reading the E.U.L.A. of that Spyware/Malware from Microsoft called Windows 10 and after Linux wouldn't work in 2000, I gave Linux another try on September 2015 with openSUSE which worked. After a month I threw out Windows 8.1 like garbage should and went to 100% Linux on all my computers ever ...

Re: Backup Backup Backup!

Even though I have a RAID 10 I still back up to an external HDD that I only connect to back up or to restore files. It saved me when I installed Stacer from Source Forge which knocked out the volume control on my keyboard, changed file permissions, and put junk files on MX Linux. Un-installing didn'...

Re: Whisker Menu-MenuLibre: Data locations & printing it.

First, welcome to the Linux mint forum. Second, please forgive me for not understanding everything as typed out but I will try to answer what I understand since I am a former Windows user. The file manger for Xfce is Thunar and I would not recommend using a different one because it might cause probl...

That means it never fully uninstalled. Make sure you go in the all column. Right click on the application in the Whisker menu and left click Edit Application, clear all information on it and save.

Primary browser is Firefox with DuckDuckGo search engine.
