Re: Zoom program is not displayed and the computer crashed

G'day I have found that zoom needs a sandbox. I use firejail. After you have installed your sandbox: in a terminal, try sandbox zoom. If that works, you'll need to edit the menu item for zoom, and add the sandbox as a prefix to the command line. If you need help with that I need to know your desktop...

Re: Move from Linux Mint 20 to LMDE 4

G'day 1) I'd suggest you install lmde alongside your present system/s and multi-boot as necessary. 3) I'm running lmde on a NVME card. Remember, the beauty of having a live .iso is that you can check if hardware is compatible. The 1 thing mint20 can do that is difficult in lmde is PPAs. I have read ...

Re: Can't install .bin file (nix pre-installed in multi user mode error)

G'day It is highly unusual that you would be installing a .bin in Mint. Most new apps are installed using .deb files and your software manager. Is there a debian or ubuntu version of the app you want on the web site. Download that - for cinnamon 19.1 you should choose debian stable or ubuntu 18.04. ...

Peter

You asked about puppy. It has changes a bit since I last used it, but it was designed to run from CD/USB as a live system. The thing is that you could save changes to your CD during and at the completion of your session. They discouraged hdd installation

Re: What am I missing?

Peter First off, how sure are you that your laptop is 32bit? I'd be very surprised. Running from a SSD is MUCH quicker than hdd or usb. You say that you still need win7 occasionally. So try a virtual machine. Do you still have a CD of win7? Do you know how to create a .iso from the CD. Do you want t...

Re: Firejail LibreOffice files

G'day the 'LibreOffice 6.0 (as superuser)' suggests you have logged in as su/root sometime and forgotten to log out. I just tried opening a file with the command like you did and it worked. When I added sudo to the command, it failed What happens if you try firejail libreoffice ie no file? And then ...

Re: LibreOffice crashing Virtualbox

G'day Craig

My VBox is showing Version 6.1.10 r138449 (Qt5.11.3), downloaded from Oracle over the weekend.

I'm not sure what the Qt bit is, but suggests there perhaps is a minor update available.

It may be worth a try, as you have not had trouble in the past.
