Re: Error whilst trying to install software from Update Manager

Welcome to the forums.
The quickest fix would be to use Timeshift to restore a snapshot that was made prior to the problem - assuming you have used Timeshift recently to create a snapshot.

@ rodrigooeiras Welcome to the forums. You'd be better off making a new post ( it is free :D ) as your problem may have a different cause as you have different hardware etc. When you make your new post, go to this link and follow all the instructions and most definitely number 5: http://forums.linux...

Re: Will Firefox tabs remain if I run the released OS update?

Firstly, you can backup all your bookmarks by opening FF and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ O (the letter)
Then, backup/restore.

Secondly, in theory and everytime I've updated FF or the OS, yes, all my settings have been saved without a problem. However, there is always the potential for a problem.

Run 'top' in Terminal and see what seems to be taking up resources.
Post back if it isn't a specific application and you need more help.

Re: how to roll-back Firefox to 66.0.3

Sync is all well and good but if you don't want your (slightly) more personal data such as bookmarks being perused by an AI looking to see what it can sell you in the future, then just back up your bookmarks to an html file and store it on an external drive along with the rest of your data. You can ...

Re: No signal, nothing happens when booting

Unplug from the electrical outlet for a few seconds to make sure everything is switched off.
Plug it back in.
Run us through exactly what happens when you press the power button - noises/lights/screen led/keyboard lights etc.

Re: No graphics, only whitescreen.

Sorry for the long post, I want that if some other newbie like me has this issue maybe it can be solved like this.
Don't apologise.
You've most likely saved other people who had the same problem by explaining what you did to fix the problem.
Well done.

Re: help find old data after reinstall

Can you post the output to df Depending on how important your data is - can you install another drive into the computer, take out your nvme drive. Then can run software to try and rescue data. The more you use it as your OS, the less chance of recovering anything. However, it might be worth running ...

Re: Linux broken

Your best bet is to back everything up onto a flash drive/external drive. Make sure you have at least one EXTERNAL backup device. 2 is better. Then download your favourite version from here: https://linuxmint.com/download.php Follow the instructions from here - yes, best to format and start from scr...

Re: how to roll-back Firefox to 66.0.3

Just to add that if you did roll back to an earlier version of FF, you would almost definitely be opening up yourself to security problems.
Your browser has to be robust and updated regularly, unlike many other programs on your system that aren't quite so open to the internet.

Re: USB motherboard 9 pin doubler

Have you got an option in BIOS to disable POST error messages? If so, try that.
There may also, hopefully for you, be a 'skip pressing F1' setting

If you look in the Timeshift folder, you may be lucky enough to see an old GRUB2
Do you know how to get that from one place to another?

Re: What is a good USB 3 drive to install full OS on?

What told you that it doesn't support 64 bit? Chances are if it is new it needs a partition. Can you try Gparted. Remove all existing partitions (if there are any), create 1 large partition taking up the whole drive (if you suspect that there is a problem other than that listed above), then format i...

Re: After updating grub it doesn't load anymore

If you have a Timeshift snapshot you can boot into Live Mint using a DVD/USB then run Timeshift. That will restore the GRUB2 to whatever you had at the time of the snapshot (Along with every other system file)

Can you go to the above link and follow number 5.

Have you tried restarting FF with addons disabled and enabling/disabling hardware acceleration?
If you don't know where those options are, post back.

Can you give as many details as possible. What have you tried? What were the errors with the last drive? Just to check - is it a hard drive or SSD? Have you disabled 'Secure Boot'? Have you tried following instructions at: https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install.html La...

Black rounded covered in plastic black and red cables white jumper. If that's the case I tried unplugging it for like 20-30 minutes and plugging it again and it did not reset. I didn't unplug the battery, I tried but the connector/jumper looks to damn fragile and too stucked. Might be that? Yes, th...
