Re: Is Mint a younger or older crowd?
Computer use/sales went down as phones became more powerful and people (ones who weren't really "computer people" to start with) tended to drift away from computers and go to phone use only. This is a very good point. Most people under 40 will use their 'smart phone' more than a desktop o...

Re: Furthering My Studies: Some Questions for the Community
Last year I completed the Security+ exam in order to land a job in that field. What I didn't know, that I needed the A+ (and apparently Network+), to get to the Security+ exam. So I took the A+, which luckily was included in the course and the later the Security+ Only afterwards I read, that Network...

I use an iMac, the 27" 5K screen. To me its a wonderful computer, the screen alone is amazing. I use it for making music and programming apps i Xcode, watching movies, tv shows etc. I also have an iPhone and iPad. BUT! if your wife doesn't need Garageband/Logic to make music or Xcode to program...

Re: Why is the website so fugly?
I was that non Linux user until three years ago when I adopted Mint. It wasn't the appearance of the OS that attracted me, nor was it the number of bells and whistles on the web site. In fact it was the very lack of such ephemeral nonsense, and the ease of installation & use of the OS that deci...

Re: Replace Laptop every x years?
I also have old laptops working perfectly. My main is a business class, maybe 7-9 years old(former Win10) running LM20 Cinnamon, my secondary is a Win7 era running LMDE. A third has XP on it, just for nostalgic reasons and running old games, its very rarely booted up though. Backup is on my NAS. HDD...

I've tried the oil as well, with no effect whatsoever.
No effect to pain or sleep.
Glad to see it worked for you though.

"Star Wars" that was in the early 90's. One of my friends is a tech head and the first I knew that had internet. He had an ISDN connection, which at the time was pretty fancy, because he could use the internet AND the phone at the same time. Pamela Anderson was often searched, also Gillian...

I'd probably use Debian, I prefer stability over bleeding edge.

You also mentioned guaranteed not to be approved; self-build anyway Why would this be not approved in your country just out of curiosity ?...DAMIEN In Europe, all motorised vehicles must be factory made. So putting a 2-stroke engine on a bike, makes it a moped or a scooter. Then it needs a national...

Blackbirds singing.
The sound the water makes when I'm sailing or the sound of water lapping against the hull of the boat when I'm in the bunk going to sleep.

Wow! That's a very pretty bike, Might even go to "beautiful". :D I've been building a pizza oven, I foolishly agreed to make a terrace with it and removed too much dirt and clay. That needed to be filled with more gravel and sand. https://imgur.com/gallery/K10WAqi https://imgur.com/gallery...

Re: Apple macros vs Mint
It really depends on what your needs are.
I use MacOs for Xcode to learn how to make apps for iPhone/Pad and Logic Pro to make music.
For every other task, Linux is just as good. Albeit, it has another feel to it.
Linux is definetely cheaper.

Re: Apple macros vs Mint
My Desktop is a 2017 27" iMac, it works perfectly, for me at least. Only bad thing is, upgrading from Mojave to Catalina, my Apogee Gio hasn't worked flawlessly. Because Catalina doesn't support 32-bit HW. Mojave did. Most programs costs money, if you need other ones not coming with the OS it s...
