Re: So close to installing mint on main PC

I know your situation.
I dual boot on my iMac, MacOs/Win10. Windows is only used for gaming.

Linux Mint is on my laptop and its Linux only.
It had Win10 on it and it's now a much better machine.

Re: A New Distro Focused On... System Organization?

I don't know much about the filesystem(yet), but it seems very logical.
And if it works, then great! Maybe the speeds at reading will also improve? I don't know.
Is it easier to understand and get an overview of?

Re: Nearly a year has passed...

...for the most part it feels like I'm going backwards in using Apple's or Microsoft's OSs. I feel the same, espcially using Windows(which I use only for the occasional gaming). MacOS is stil fairly new to me, I've had the iMac for around 1 1/2 years now. I like MacOS, I mostly use it for Logic Pro...

Re: What's Your Opinion on Self-Driving Cars?

I'm not entirely convinced about the technology yet. It would be cool, if the car always stays within any given speed limit, so ppl would be forced to drive nicer. I live on the countryside and on this road the speed limit is 80 km/h (about 50 mph) and drivers keep driving too fast, earlier this yea...

No need for LM in a virtual box then.
I'll create a third account on my laptop for testing in Terminal.

Through things done as said standard, non-administrator user, no. What you can of course break is the user account itself.

Nice! :D
So its safe to have a user, only for experimenting with terminal?
Thats a relief, when I'm my mac, I tend to get distracted to other things.

Nearly a year has passed...

And I'm still really impressed by LM. Although I have been really cautious with internet usage and spent most of the time in this forum. I've read a lot, and only commented a few times. Broken my system once and reinstalled a couple of times, all in all a learning experience(Thank you for helping us...

Re: [SOLVED] Is it possible to clone Mint to a mSata drive?

So I started from scratch again, another opportunity to learn some more. :D And during install I made a root partition, swap partition and a home partition on the msata drive. And it works perfectly, thanks to Xenopeeks tutorial : https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=122276 I was able to sea...

Re: Is it possible to clone Mint to a mSata drive?

The msata disk(240GB) is purely for the OS, and maybe swapfile? That's a huge waste of an SSD. You might consider reserving 32-38GB for the OS and swapfile on one partition, and allocate the rest to /home. As for the HDD, use it for data that doesn't change much, as well as backups. As for cloning,...

Re: Is it possible to clone Mint to a mSata drive?

So I just installed a msata disk in my laptop and chose to do a fresh install and wiped my old HDD, which probably wasn't one of my best ideas. The computer feels really snappy. But, maybe I should have backed up my /home ... :? I'm considering to partition the old HDD(500GB) into two partitions, 1 ...

A glimpse of the world you would have us live in. “One day, we'll go to Store to buy product , and go to theater to see Movie .” The implication was that we won't have choices any longer because one big company will own everything and we will simply have no choice but to consume whatever they choos...
