Hello there (again)
So I've been here before, but that was a few years ago, maybe 3-4 years. My Mint machines died, well one is dead and the other just need a new battery and havent got around to it yet. I changed jobs a couple of times since then, it was quite stressful so I didn't have time or energy to take care my ...

Re: Windows 11 taskbar looks poor next to LM 21 Cinnamon taskbar
I started on my new job as an IT-technician in the beginning of this month and got a laptop with Win11, I really dislike it. I dislike it so much, that I miss Win10 from my previous job ... It's butt-ugly and difficult to navigate efficiently in. I have a Windows 10 machine nearby and it has the hor...

Re: Mint 21 Upgrade - How did it go?
I had no problems at all.
I did an upgrade from 20.3 to 21.
It did take quite some time, but it pretty much took care of it self.

Re: Lenovo Thinkpads great for Linux
My main Mint-machine is a Lenovo L520 and its working perfectly with SSD's and 16 GB RAM.
Although 8 GB is enough, I have never seen it use more than maximum 2,5 GB RAM.

My first Mint install was screwed up by me in 2019.
I reinstalled once and have only updated this one since then.

Re: What are your opinions, reasons for choosing Mint ?
That's an impressive endorsement. I've actually met a few at work that uses Linux at home, it's always nice to meet fellow Linuxers. :D I had a new computer built last week by two professionals who run a business building and repairing computers, and though they both moan about the drawbacks of Win...

Re: What are your opinions, reasons for choosing Mint ?
My question is : What are your opinions, reasons for choosing Mint from other Linux distros ? I got tired of Windows, and vira, lack of security/privacy, long boot times, memory and CPU-hogging and then got curious about Linux. I tried a few Distro's and hated like their DE's(Gnome). Stumbled acros...

Re: Actually tried Windows 10 ...
How many pc's do you have to administer? Any suitable tools for device management? as for office 365, what is a pain is that microsoft is constantly changing their admin portals - can get very confusing..! I have no idea yet how many pc’s I administer yet. Maybe 100-150 in 4 locations. And several ...

Re: Actually tried Windows 10 ...
I started in IT February 1st, so now I’m wrestling with Windows EVERY.SINGLE.DAY … I’ve done lots of updates and stuff on both user pc’s and servers, tinkering with hardware. These machines are locked down really hard, for security reasons. But still, updating a machine can easily take half of the w...

Re: What made you choose Linux over any other operating system?
I have been using LM a couple of years now on my laptop. Before that it was DOS->Win95 up to XP. I have an iMac dualbooting MacOS and Win10. The only thing I use Windows for is for games and thats it. Everything else is either LM or MacOS, the important stuff! MacOS is for music produktion(long time...

Re: The Ultimate Sandwich in the known galaxy
I'm one of the "De Brune Riddere" in Denmark. We danes have a thing called Bøfsandwich, which started as a hamburger 70 years ago. So we"De Brune Riddere" started to rate all the bøfsandwiches that we came across, simply to find the the best in Denmark. That was only for fun and ...

Re: Deep-fried cockroaches
There is a zoo nearby that serves fried cockroaches, grasshoppers and mealworms.
They are quite tasty.
Cockroaches taste like buttery popcorn.
Grasshoppes and mealworms are sweet, because they are roasted with honey.

Re: Time To Stay With Linux Mint
Yeah, I know how it is.
I tried some distros in Virtual Machine and even dualbooting.
But none of the other distros had anything to offer(for me at least) that Mint couldn't deliver.
Mint is, to me, rock solid. And I'm also staying.

Re: How many distro's have you tried before and after coming to mint?
Red Hat, about 20 years ago.
Ubuntu Studio, couple of years ago.
Linux Mint and I'm staying.
Later i tried Debian, Elementary OS and Ubuntu, but i can't really be bothered with other distributions, because LM has everything I need and it's so user friendly.

No Wine here.
I occasionally use Win10 for gaming, i dual boot on my iMac. MacOs/Win10.
MacOs for everyday use and programming or making music.
Win10 for gaming only and internet is disabled on Win10.
I'm still new to Linux. This laptop is Linux only.

Re: What was your first computer game ever?
The first computer game I've played, must have been "Martian Memorandum" on a 286 pc.
It wasn't my game or pc.
A few years later I bought my first pc, a 486 dx4 100mhz.
The first games on that was "Dune2" and "Tex Murphy: Under a killing moon"
