Re: Signing and public key issue
Thanks for the reply, which I will try. [SOLVED] Signing and public key issue
After refreshing Update Manager, I have had the following appearing on a vertical strip screen, which fills the screen top to bottom and can only be removed by a power down and restart: “GPG error: https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public InRelease: The following signatures couldn't be verified bec...

Coinor packages
I'm using update manager and it wants to install a load of "coinor" packages. Is this OK? - I've seen that they are associated with Kali linux online and want reassurance before proceeding.

Re: Foxclone - linux image backup, restore & clone
Just out of interest, when using Foxclone 42: When making a backup, is it adviseable to create a folder for the contents of the backup - or just let it put the files where it likes on the storage medium? When you do the next backup is it incremental to the first? What happens to the other files on t...

I found:
To Update, Upgrade and create a new Grub:
sudo apt-get -f install -y && sudo apt dist-upgrade -y && sudo update-initramfs -u -k all && reboot
This worked for me.

Re: Left over element of DejaDup
A good point - I have not tried a restart.
If it clears the issue, I will report that back.
If not - I am still puzzled.

Re: Foxclone - linux image backup, restore & clone
I had the UUID issue after I used Clonezilla to clone the Linux Mint Cinnamon O/S from my old Desktop PC (where I did all the settings adjusments, installed apps and e-mails settings etc. that I required) to my two laptops. The answer was to run sudo blkid in terminal and see what the laptop's actua...

Re: Looking for best LM on a laptop forum/discussion...
If you are in the UK, Entroware do a good range of Laptops at a selectable spec and screen sizes and competative price. They run Ubuntu out of the box. I bought one and they disabled both safe start and UEFI for me, allowing me to install Zorin 12 very easily. I am now a Linux Mint Cinnamon convert ...

Re: Problem changing to SSD
How about using one of those SSDs, which connect to the PC through a usb C connector. SanDisc do several in a range of sizes and were rated as best buys in Computer Active in the UK this month. Their SSDs are really fast, if fairly expensive. I guess you may need a USB C to USB 3 cable or adaptor as...

Left over element of DejaDup
I successfully backed up my Linux Mint Cinnamon laptop using Backups (DejaDup). I was surprised to see that both Backups and DejaDup were running as shown at the bottom left running programs. What I was even more surprised to see after finishing the backup and closing both applications is that DejaD...

Re: Foxclone - linux image backup, restore & clone
Hi AndyMH, Thanks mightily for the update - you are both a Genius and a Saint for bearing with me. Yes, I have seen the light! Backup of my whole laptop O/S periodically, using FoxClone 42, enabling me to restore the O/S to the original laptop (if ever required) and Backups (DejaDup) more frequently...

Re: Foxclone - linux image backup, restore & clone
Thanks for the update AndyMH - I appreciate the time you spent replying. I have two laptops that I with to keep to the same standard (in case of problems with either). They were both cloned from my Desktop PC, with uuid corrections as necessary, so not quite identical. I think that in spite of your ...

Re: Foxclone - linux image backup, restore & clone
Hi AndyMH I tried to PM you but, I guess, I got it wrong. I went to see if you had replied and found no evidence of what I thought that I had sent and of course, consequently, no reply. So here is what I am trying to do again: I am intending to use the iso on a DVD and to clone my set up, which is o...

Re: Foxclone - linux image backup, restore & clone
Hi and thanks AndyMH. I have updated to the latest 42-04 .deb and iso and also read the comprehensive guide. So good to go! I am intending to use the iso on a DVD and to clone my set up, which is on my laptop's 500 Gb HDD. I have a 1 tetrabyte usb HDD and I would lke to have the clone on one ~500 Gb...

Re: Foxclone - linux image backup, restore & clone
AndyMH, please help. I do, when the usb HDD that I use for cloning is full, use disks or other to format the drive and start over. Will this acion create a partition on the HDD? How do I create one if one is not there? Note, I will not be using usb sticks with Foxclone and I want to clone my set up ...

Re: Foxclone - linux image backup, restore & clone
Just one concern, perhaps two. My mint rig uses ext4 file format, should the usb HDD that I use be formatted to ext4 also. By the sound of things a newly formatted usb HDD will not be seen by Foxclone. I found that Redo had no such problems as I often reformatted the drive to start with the full dri...
