Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

I got beef with github, they keep pestering me with verification code e-mails on each login just because I have the good habit of clearing all cookies at browser exit. So I try to avoid getting there, more so when I know who owns it now. Yes, I got in contact with them and a nice fellow named Anna s...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Maybe our resident theming deity smurphos can help you out. Hopefully. I suspect there are more issues with the Mint-X theme, I stumbled into one of them some time ago, with unreadable white text on an almost-white background in a dropdown list, while the first one was another unreadable dark-grey ...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Well, that would be a workaround. Thank you.
Any idea what exactly in the Mint-X theme does that? I only see one declaration of font-family in cinnamon.css. I'd like to fix at least my custom theme.

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

BTW, yesterday I just incidentally read that poll topic by smurphos about theming where you chimed in with some valid points. Linux GUI and theming are completely f.ed up, which leads to issues like this one.

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

No, actually looking at the screenshots closely, what you changed was change your system monospace font to a non-monospace font. Uhm, nope. I wouldn't make such a change because I know what we talked about earlier and I know monospaced fonts exist for a reason. All I did was change font-size in one...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

I've always been up to date with all updates, yours included so it couldn't have possibly been an older one. What I changed was the font size somewhere in the custom theme based on the previous Mint-X; I went from 9pt to 8pt. Newest official change was from 9pt to 10pt, which I find ridiculously lar...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Hi, gm10. Do you see what I see...? Wasted space.png Hint: wasted window space and badly formatted text in the changelog. 8) Besides that, there's one other thing that bothers me: kernel (and not only) update size. What do I mean by that? Let me explain. Usually when a kernel update is present I see...

We should make the best out of each and every second because they all go by and never come back. ;)

Take care, my friend. 8)

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

[...] people have time to complain on the weekend, haha. Well, people usually have barbeques on weekends so you get complaints on Mondays, first hour in the morning. :P :D I wanted to get it out of the way rather than have everybody run into the issue next week. We'll se how that goes, come Monday....

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Best day for patches is Tuesday... says Redmond.

When Updater is stuck after self-update, tray menu has a few items disabled, including Quit, so that's not a valid option. Killing the process and restarting it does the trick. Logging out and back in is overkill.

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

I'd rather get you some cold beer, at least, if it weren't for these small inconveniences like distance, currency and so on. :)
But don't worry, there's 30°C here too. Inside and outside. We suffer together. :D
Cheers! ;)

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

And to think height was the major problem in auto-updater... Oh well, you can't have it all. What dotted line? Never saw one, so either I'm blind or that thing is useless. Nevermind, it's disabled anyway - good riddance to bad luggage, as they say. Average width may be better than max width, ...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

are you trying to make it more narrow then? Yes, I'm always going for best fit, don't waste screen space with large blanks or whatever. Yep, it's already doing that in the version you currently have. GNOME defaults to overlay scrollbars, so GTK doesn't do this automatically and I have to do it manu...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Uhm, actually no, I have a smaller font size overall. The machine being a notebook and me staying close to the screen, it's rather natural to have small font sizes, not to mention I had gotten used to the large 1680x1050 monitor on the XP machine and now I feel like there's some screen real estate m...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

So this is a known issue that I will not fix. Ah, alright then, if it's known then it's known. :) Still, to mask it there would be two possible workarounds: 1. Load/Save window size between sessions (easier but breaks when system fonts size changes). 2. Show a fixed window size (at least horizontal...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

it looks just wrong depending on the window size If it were pinned to the left side of the window it would look like a sidebar or something. Aesthetics is good but functionality should come first. If the changelog can't be read comfortably then why show it there? ;) I wish I had a screenshot to do ...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Are you asking to make it wider or higher? Higher, of course. I had noticed the fixed narrow width. Btw I broke the changelog display for when you're not using auto-update [...] Shi(f)t happens. :) No biggie. Indeed I like to do things manually when it comes to updates. Guess I'm just gonna trust y...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Heh, still got notifications from this thread although my previous comments were flushed somewhere else. So yeah, while I'm here there's my thoughts: - since you added that changelog box to the Updater, it would be nice to move the image/avatar and the checkbox below to the left, and enlarge the cha...

Re: Configuring locale and regional settings, the keyboard layout and working with file encodings

Yes, it's Cinnamon. I now looked into the settings - assuming that's what you're talking about: right-click tray clock > Configure (appears as Calendar) - and the Display > Use a custom date format is not enabled. On another note: Software Manager continues to malfunction, looping in Generating cach...
