Re: Blootooth Adaptor not found in mid session SOLVED

It has magically started working again. I can't say that I did anything to make it work.

So odd.

Blootooth Adaptor not found in mid session SOLVED

I have been using Mint for over a year on my laptop. I have a BT mouse (with it's dongle) and a BT keyboard I use with the laptop's BT. In mid session a couple of days ago the keyboard stopped working. When I opened the BT app, it showed "bluetooth adaptor not found". Here are the results ...

SOLVED Re: Pychess? Chess GUI for analyzing games

Thanks for the replies. Here is the solution I found: I use xboard to reply my games from the written score. Then I save them as PGN. I name them this way " a v b, Linux Mint Open, June 1, 2020" like that. I then use ChessX to analyze the game. I find the analysis to easier to understand, ...

SOLVED Pychess? Chess GUI for analyzing games

I have done a bit of searching, and have yet to find what I am looking for. I have a lot of games, mine and by masters that I would like to analyze via a chess engine. I have not been able to figure out how to get Pychess to import a game in PGN, then step through it turn by turn, so I can see how t...

Re: SOLVED Epson WF-3730 WIFI scanner not detected

The problem was that the escl.conf file in etc/sane.d had a bad entry. Once I commented that out, it was fine!

Re: Epson WF-3730 WIFI scanner not detected

I am using it via WIFI network. I'd rather NOT have to use a cable.

I DO have Ipp-USB, and I do NOT have ippusbxd. I do have sane-airscan.

The problem is that while the system sees the printer to print, it does NOT see the printer to scan.

Re: Epson XP 342 Printer/Scanner not found

As an FYI, I was just able to get my EPSON WF-3730 working over wifi for scan by editing the imagescan.conf (as root) and adding this: myscanner.udi = esci:networkscan://192.168.0.108:1865 myscanner.vendor = Epson myscanner.model = WF-3730 The IP is the IP I found on the printer/scanner by checking ...

Re: Can't use CHOWN on mint

I have solved my problem. What was happening was my HD was dying (laptop was 8 years old) and the system would move that section into Read only. Well, the HD died, and I have a new laptop. Which, once I got past the "set up windows" that I could not by pass, I then wiped and added back Min...

I did this "find $HOME ! -user $USER"

Re: Can't use CHOWN on mint

No the EXtents attribute is set.

I surely must be root if I do SUDO? Does LM install with those areas as "read only"?

Re: Linux Mint Installation

I will tell you that I dual booted for about 1.5 years.

This past weekend I backed up my files, and did wipe and clean install of 19.3.

Vast improvement, I only wish I had done this 1,5 years ago.

I didn't find anything I needed to do, that I couldn't do on LM :)

SOLVED Can't use CHOWN on mint

I am having the mozilla / thunderbird issue where I get the error message "T-bird is already running, but not responding". I know the solution is to DELETE the lock and parentlock files. BUT it's read only! So, I tried this: sudo chown -Rc $USER:$USER $HOME But I see this "chown: chan...

Re: How many are 100% Linux here?

I had an older laptop (2012) running Win 7. It was so sluggish I decided to try installing linux to avoid buying a new laptop. FAR and away my best decision in computing for a while! I only boot MINT now, and have shrunk my Win partition as much as I can to give more space to MINT. I'll never buy a ...

Hi from Pat

I've just registered, I added mint in March as a dual windows boot, and I have only booted into windows after that to shrink the windows partition, and give more space to mint!

I'll never buy a windows machine again, MINT is so cool.

Thanks to all who made it happen!
