Re: Dell Optiplex 745 putting LM 21.1 on it a good idea?
My Dell is a 745 SFF desktop, 4GB ram, Core2 Duo processor, 2.6.4 BIOS, running 'Dual Boot' Windows10 / Linux Mint 21.1 MATE, recently updated with a SanDisk SDSSDH3 500GB SSD (replacing a failing 500GB HDD) It was originally built in Mar, 2007 (with Windows XP). It was upgraded to Windows7(32Bit) t...

Re: Solved:Replacing HDD w/ SSD
I got lucky, and my new SanDisk Ultra SSD (500GB) matched the capacity of my dying HDD to the byte, so 'cloning' (using 'Foxclone' ) was a 'breeze'. Had I been aware of 'Foxclone' and it's embedded 'GParted' app, I'm sure I could have manipulated the partitions on my HDD (dual boot system) with ease...

Re: SOLVED : cloning new SSD drive from internal HDD DRIVE
I assume your 'cloning' was successful, and your target drive proved to be equal to, or larger than your 'source' drive?

Re: Replacing HDD w/ SSD
So: Given that Mfr B's(SSD) 500GB might not equal Mfr A's (HDD) 500GB, and my 'Windows' partition is virtually unused (OS and Anti-Virus only), I would be advised to identify (how?) and shrink my 'Windows' partition (237GB -194GB Free) by maybe 50GB, before starting the cloning process? Note: I've r...

Re: Replacing HDD w/ SSD
I'm thinking to install a 'SATA' SSD in place of my failing HDD using the connections currently on the HDD. I only have 2 SATA connections, and the other is for my optical drive. Having previously installed Linux Mint as dual boot w/ Windows7, later to remove win7, and installing Win10, making dual ...

Solved:Replacing HDD w/ SSD
I have a 16 year old Dell SFF desktop with only one drive bay, but it's like the 'Energizer' bunny, just keeps running. But, I'm now seeing signs that my mech. HDD (SATA II) is showing its age (57K hrs running ), running hot, even with its own fan. I have recently installed Windows10, using USB inst...

Re: Lost menu bar 'Flags' SOLVED:
I just figured out: I started out on my replacement of the lost 'Menu panel' with the 'Compact Menu' instead of the 'Classic Menu', thus the problem with finding and 'Adding' the 'Terminal' icon.
But, the ' Right click> Reset all panels' as noted by billyswong was the ultimate solution.

Note: All three systems are 'As installed' from USB stick, with 'Firefox' browser and 'Redshift' added to 'Startup apps' . Two are 'Dual boot' with Windows10 (500Gb HDD), while the mini-laptop is Mono-boot Linux Mint (only 64Gb total non-expandable memory). It's sufficient for emails/ browsing, whil...

Re: SOLVED: Lost menu bar 'Flags'
SOLVED: Would you believe, while the 'Forums' were down, I continued poking and making things worse, eventually losing the bottom 'Menu' bar? So, I started with 'Add to panel' for 'Mint menu' (added to top bar, so I 'Moved' it to bottom bar, and 'Locked to panel'). All proceeded well until I got to ...

Re: Doubt regarding Linux Mint/Debian/Linux in general support to file systems
When Windows7 was approaching 'end of support', I looked at Linux Mint and decided to set up as 'Dual boot' (Windows7 and Linux Mint MATE), because i wasn't sure if I'd really like Linux. I used a moderate size USB stick to copy about 5,000 photos off of Windows, and into Linux, which became my 'Go ...

SOLVED:I need help fixing Busybox initramfs error om LM 19.3
I am using Linux mint 19.3 'Tricia' MATE as my primary OS, in 'dual boot' configuration on my 'Master' desktop computer. All was well until the other day, when our world went dark (Power Outage ). Of course, my 'Desktop' was running at the time, and lost power When the lights came back on, my deskto...

Re: Printer delivers copy in reverse order (last page on top)
Well, I thought an upgrade to LM 19.3 MATE (Tricia) might solve the problem.
No deal!
Still the same result!

Re: Printer delivers copy in reverse order (last page on top)
Well, turns out 'LibreOffice' has problems with .pdf publications that are multi-column. Columns are overlapped, causing loss of letters and words. So, try 'Document Viewer' as Default Program. Result is clean, easily read, nothing missing, but we're back to no reverse order print, regardless of wha...

Re: Printer delivers copy in reverse order (last page on top)
Something more I discovered today: Any pdf files I had stored in Linux, opened with the problematic 'Print menu', and if multi-page, would NOT 'Reverse' print order. What to do? Of course: Change 'Default Program' setting to open .pdf files with 'LibreOffice'. So now, all multi-page pdf files, inter...

Printer delivers copy in reverse order (last page on top)
I'm re-posting this because I believe a comment caused the original poster to withdraw his post and quit the group. Sad to see. I've been putting up with this for a while, and I'm thinking that previously, I could just select 'Reverse order' and it printed back to front, but not now (doesn't matter ...

Re: Printer prints in reverse order face up
Let's face it, there are more important things in this world to worry about. If it prints in reverse order, just remember to set the defaults when you print. If his problem is same as mine, marking the 'print reverse' option in master 'Print Control' won't do anything but place check mark and alter...

Re: Printer prints in reverse order face up
I've been putting up with this for a while, and I'm thinking that previously, I could just select 'Reverse order' and it printed back to front, but not now (doesn't matter how I try to fool it). Checking the 'Choice box' in print control makes NO Difference. This also applies to my Linux 19.2 laptop...
