Re: What is your favorite internet search engine and why?
After reading this thread I used a few days DDG again to see how much it has improved. It has improved a lot compared to the past but still cannot compete with Google. I returned to Google but I installed an extension that allows me to select the text and do research with DDG. This extension will al...

Re: Brasero error 2856 bug, again, and again
Perhaps this link with images can help you understand what functions I speak. Also some burning software for Windows have this function, sometimes activated by default, sometimes it must be activated by the user. https://askubuntu.com/questions/54367/how-can-i-verify-data-after-burn-when-using-brase...

Re: Brasero error 2856 bug, again, and again
Maybe my translation is not good (I use online translator) or I could not explain well what I meant. By checksum check I mean write control. A hash is calculated for the file to be burned (example: hash of an ISO image or a file) and during (or after) it is calculated / checked that everything has b...

Re: Brasero error 2856 bug, again, and again
xfburn is the best over all for simplicity of downloading and usage, especially for beginners...DAMIEN sudo apt install xfburn I started with Xfburn and I found myself very well, I also find it simple, with a good and functional interface. But later I moved to Brasero because I saw that he did a ch...

Re: software for playing DVD movies
I use VLC 3.08 (flatpak) I still have to meet an audio or video file that can't reproduce. Mint version 18.3 (I also use this version of Mint) has VLC series 2 but I managed to upgrade (view: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=297624) I don't remember if VLC 2 is present by defaul...

Re: Brasero error 2856 bug, again, and again
@BugCatcher1951 Searching for error on Google I found this discussion on Brasero. https://forum.ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.php?p=5032592 It's not about Blueray but the error code 2856 is the same. See if with cdrkit and/or Icedax you can solve. I checked, both is present in the Mint 18.3 application ma...

Re: Brasero error 2856 bug, again, and again
I also often read about complaints about Brasero. So far I've only used it to burn ISO images and it has never failed. (I also use Mint 18.3 and I have Brasero 3.12.1) I wonder if it is possible to install a newer version with the bugs fixed. Does Mint 19.2 have a newer version of Brasero? Thank you...

Re: My Opinion
For example, I have over 3000 wps files that I can't find any program that will open the files and keep the format in tact. Lazy, maybe, but I am not about to manally reformat over 3000 wps files in LibreOffice. 8) When I started using the computer many years ago I had a Windows 98 with MS Works in...

Help for KeepassX [SOLVED]
I have a trivial problem (visualization) with this program. After creating the database I was entering the data when by pressing a few keys by mistake the program window filled the whole screen. I've already tried to see if I can resize the program, press F11 and look for options. The only way is to...

Re: Whats everyone currently listening to?
Since using Linux Mint I have discovered Clementine (I didn't know it before) With Clementine I listen to a list of radios (Icecast) that play stations that broadcast music from the 50s, 60s and Rockbilly genres. But the kind I like best is Bluegrass, I listen to it on a station called The Bluegrass...

Re: What is your favorite internet search engine and why?
Interesting topic. I've always used Google, in the past I tried DDG but then I returned to Google because of disappointing results. After reading this I decided to give DDG another chance and set it on all the browsers on my two PCs. I just hope it's not snake oil (I read various opinions where some...

The last line of code in that sequence will just tell you what kernels are left...ideally you should just have the current kernel running as well as the last known good kernel just in case you need to retreat from a newer "borked" kernel...its rare but it does happen from time to time. I ...

Why not use 'Bleachbit'? There are two versions. One runs as Root, and deals with system rubbish, and the other user rubbish. I have been using them for a two years now, and had no problems. They are both in the Software Manager. Yesterday I used Bleachbit on a laptop where I always have Mint 18.3....

Re: Is there a audio equalizer that actually works?
I would also like to know. Recently I had a problem and had to reinstall Mint, I tried the new 19.2 first but I went back to the old 18.3 just for the equalizer, in the new version it doesn't appear in the menu just like you say. On two different computers I installed the equalizer with the followin...
