Re: Detect external TV connected with HDMI

It was a Funai TV. I got a new TV from LG and everything just works fine. So it never was an issue with linux mint itself but with the TV.

Re: No free disk space left

I could not access trash from the GUI with elevated privileges in nemo directly for some reason. With elevated rights from within nemo, see screenshot. Screenshot from 2019-11-26 15-36-39.png . But looking for files in trash for both the user and root pointed me in the right direction. For root ther...

No free disk space left

I had a folder with many many folders and files (20k or more I don't know exactly) in it which was like 75GB in size. The folders in nemo showed the lock symbol as an overlay which I guess meant that I was not the owner but root in this case. I right clicked in nemo and chose the option to get eleva...

Re: Cinnamon settings

Thank you, that helped. I restored this file seperately using a live session and it solved the problem. But I wonder why this file was not restored in the first place by back in time itself. I did the back in time restore using the normal variant without root. So either this was an issue or maybe be...

Re: Cinnamon settings

I left all to the default settings in back in time so I don't think there is an exclusion of hidden files.

Cinnamon settings

Where are the cinnamon settings like wallpaper, font for the windows and theme selection etc saved? I did a back in time backup and restored it to my home folder but the old settings don't seem to be backed up.

Re: Restore with Timeshift select target devices

I will try this once I am back home again. I did not use the original system because I did a BIOS update and I installed windows to do it. Yeah I think you are right that it has todo something with a wrong UUID. Also I know that everything is more complicated using encryption but I need it because I...

Re: Restore with Timeshift select target devices

I will try like this now but I do not know if the selections for /boot and /boot/efi are right?
Screenshot from 2019-09-22 08-43-59.png
Sometimes it shows a message like failed to mount devices. I closed the restore snapshot window and reopened it then it is possible with the same selection...?

Re: Android Studio installation

I use

Code: Select all

/opt/android-studio/
now...

Hmm flatpak has many issues I guess. Doing a quick search I found this https://flatkill.org/ and it sounds like flatpack should better be avoided if possible.

[SOLVED] Android Studio installation

Where should I install it?

In the guide here https://developer.android.com/studio/install it says to install it to

Code: Select all

/usr/local/
Is this a good location? Should I create a subfolder here or just put everything in there?

Re: Installation of MonoGame 3.7.1 on Linux Mint 19.2 Tina for game development

I wrote a bash script for it to automate the process a bit more: #! /bin/bash # # step 1 monodeveloplatest=monodevelop if [ $(dpkg-query -W -f='${Status}' $package 2>/dev/null | grep -c "ok installed") -eq 0 ]; then echo "$monodeveloplatest not installed..." sudo apt install -y apt-transport-https d...

Download and set language via terminal

What I often do if I boot up a live version of Linux Mint is to download and change to my native language. I do this using the settings but is it possible to accomplish the same task with the terminal? If so which commands do I need?
