Re: Installing new drivers?

Thanks Dr Hu,

How do I go to safe mode? It seems like the least complex option to start with.

Installing new drivers?

Recently my old lappy with a 3D grapics card packed up, so I went out and bought a smaller spec notebook as its all I need. Instead of installing Mint on its HD I merely swaped the new drive for the old drive. Everything works fine except that the graphics are quite juddery and after a month I'm get...

Re: Screen Bightness

Thanks. I'll try this later, the only command that has worked so far is # sudo sh. My directory structure is obviously different to yours.

You'll need to put download and put syslinux.cfg in the syslinux folder once you've installed. :D

Can I install without a CD?

I have a new Acer Aspire notebook that doesn't have a CD drive. As far as I know all Mint dowloads at the moment require a .iso burn to disk, now that I can't do that, is there a procedure to install any other way?

Mint Power Consumtion and Battery Life

I have just bought a new note book and am now a little concerned. Windows is the resident system on the HD and when it runs there is no or very little fan activity. However even when I run Linux via USB stick and Mint is just twiddling its thumbs on the desktop the fan seems to be running at full ti...

Re: Lose the "Linux" in Linux Mint

We is all forgetting that there is probaly a personal reason why Mint is called Mint, in the first place. Further, those people built the best Linux distro I´ve ever used. Whatever they want to call it? Is what I´m happy to call it. If they want to call it Plop Linux, I would go with that. They know...

Thanks both. Optimize Me it must be my phrasing, I would like different sets of Icons on different desktops, otherwise I don't see the point of multiple desktops or workspaces at all.

Re: Icons not Refreshing at Save

Thanks Altair, I have never run Nautilus, knowingly anyway. I only used Celtx as an example. The text under the icon does not dynamically update when I drag and drop any file into any directory. Right click-properties is the easiest way around, but it would be useful if this information was easier t...
