Re: DNS problems after installing Samba

Ok, I removed everything DNS related (as shown here ), created new, manual config files and removed and reinstalled Samba. (Especially NetworkManager was hard to get rid of.) It seemed to work great, but after rebooting it disappeared completely from the network. Time for a visit, I guess. In hindsi...

Re: DNS problems after installing Samba

Thanks Neil, that makes it a lot clearer. But I have another question. The company has a website, let's say: some-example.com. The Samba documentation recommended adding ad in front for the domain name (realm): ad.some-example.com. At first I used the NetBIOS (workgroup) name: SOME-EXAMPLE, but that...

DNS problems after installing Samba

I have a Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2 server, on which I installed Samba and created a domain. Since then the DNS only works partial, if at all. At the moment, servers outside the LAN can be resolved. I can select "Host device enp30s0: macvtap" as the network interface, and "Passthrough" as the source mode, but it gives the war...

Re: Microsoft SQL Server on Linux Mint

The "apt-add-repository" didn't work, and I read somewhere on this forum that that was intentional. But I tried to install the deb, which gave the message that I should install the official one, which I did. And afterwards I could do "sudo apt install mssql-server". So it has been ported already, it...

Microsoft SQL Server on Linux Mint

Because the users are used to Windows, I have standardized all Linux computers (including the server) to use Linux Mint Cinnamon. Currently, the server runs Linux Mint 19.1, and I would like to install Microsoft SQL server standard on it. I bought a license and followed the Ubuntu guide as published...
