Re: Watch tv

Yes was talking about live broadcast tv for free. What is a good antenna, aerial to use? What are the best tv sticks to use? ( I realise these cost.) Or can I watch live tv via wi fi? Also can I watch tv broadcast in other countries for free such as America? Any advice would be appreciated.

Watch tv

Hi, was wondering if anybody uses a linux laptop to watch tv. I have read about various players to use such as smplayer and kaffeine, but they have mixed reviews. Would be really useful to know about anybodies experiences, cheers.

Re: Copy a DVD

Thanks phd21.
FYI..I tried quite a few dvd software, trying to rip or convert the language cd (which I own) and is protected but none would recognise it. I had given up but then tried one last go with audacity, which did it no problem. :)

Re: Copy a DVD

SOLVED. Just to let you know that I found makeMKV good for copying my dvds. However I struggled with many dvd copiers when trying to copy a French language cd that was copy write protected. I got around this by using Audacity. It allowed me to copy each file and convert to mp3 so that I can listen t...

Copy a DVD

Hi, can anyone advise me on the best software to use to copy a dvd. I would also appreciate it if anybody could teach me how to do it in the terminal. I was told that Handbrake could copy anything but it won't. This is a movie dvd that I own. Thanks. I have searched the forum but found nothing.

Re: Solved...UEFI and Legacy boot

Just like to say thank you for all advice and help, much appreciated. I have finally and somehow managed to install Mint alongside Windows. I will now try to briefly explain how, and so hopefully be of help to others. Using windows 10 disk management I shrunk my HD partition. I turned off fast boot....

Re: UEFI and Legacy boot

Hi, I have used those codes in a terminal and got the replies but ran into problems. Basically the mouse would either disappear and I would not be able to copy the text or do anything, or it would turn into a cursor and not allow me to do anything. I would then have no choice but to use the power bu...

Re: UEFI and Legacy boot

Did what you said Larry and nothing. No output at all. Just to say after I did this I then shut down and booted up again. The laptop on boot went straight to windows, there was no option for Mint anymore. I will now try a different version of Mint.

Re: UEFI and Legacy boot

Thanks for replies will look at suggestions. Just thought I would give you an update. I followed instructions and in windows shrunk my hard drive making it unallocated. Then I turned off fast start and disabled secure boot. I used Rufus to put the Mint ISO on to a usb to make it bootable. I checked ...

Re: UEFI and Legacy boot

Thanks pbear. Just to answer your question I have installed Linux with windows on an old laptop and pc and do it with a usb. As you know to do this you change the boot order, which in legacy is straight forward. In my new laptop the bios does not give me any option to do this, so I am stuck. If you ...

Re: UEFI and Legacy boot

Thank you for all the replies. I am busy for the next few days but will then look at the tutorials. Just a note to mzee1934, appreciate your reply but bearing in mind that I am a newbie, are you telling me to install mint with uefi boot? I thought to do this I would need legacy in the bios so that I...

.qct files

Hello . Does anybody know how I can open and view .qct files? I found some files that I have probably had for at least five years in a folder called Memory Maps and I cannot find a program to open them. This is more out of curiosity than necessity. It would also have to be a free program. Thank you.
