Re: [SOLVED}redshift failure in 20.0 xfce

Glad You're sorted.
That's one reason why I always do a fresh install rather than an upgrade. Saves all the little glitches.

Re: redshift failure in 20.0 xfce

Redshift does come as part of the Mint stock install. So you could boot into the live usb/dvd, & see if it works there.

Re: redshift failure in 20.0 xfce

"Malformed Argument" Seems to indicate that you dont have the launch command correct. Try copying & pasting my command & see if you get the same result. redshift-gtk -l 53.7:0.41 . Any items in your accessory menu that you have created are found in you Home folder, in your .local/s...

Re: redshift failure in 20.0 xfce

Not sure what you mean by "close out button". You do need to click the "save launcher" button though after you have edited the command, in menulibre. It's in the top bar, second from the left.

Re: redshift failure in 20.0 xfce

Redshift seems to be working OK for me. What I do is edit the application using menulibre. I change the command option from "redshift-gtk" to "redshift-gtk -l 53.7:0.41" then save the launcher. Try that, using your own coordinates obviously, & see if that helps.

Re: CPU usage during Zoom is way (way!) higher than in Windows. Why?

No, It's not a problem on your side. I think it's a problem on the Zoom packaging side. I have the same issue. Using Mint 20 xfce, on a normal Zoom meeting on my Intel i3 cpu, I use between 20-25% cpu. On Windows 10 it's about 10-15%. However the real hit comes when you try screen sharing a video. O...

Re: Netgear A6210 USB Wireless Adapter Only Works Intermittenly

This may or may not be relevant to your issue, but I've been having similar networking issues recently that have been driving me mad.
Out of desperation I went back to the 4.15.0-96 Kernel and haven't had a problem since.

Re: Thunderbird and Gmail

I 2nd the above comment. The problem with Thunderbird & Gmail has now been resolved. If your system is up to date your Thunderbird version should be 68.4.1, which works fine with gmail & OAuth2.

Right Click "Open with" Issue

When I right click a PDF file & then "open with", I get the usual "document viewer", "libreoffice draw", & "xournal", but I also get about 100+ instances of "Mail Recipient".
Any ideas on how to get rid of those?

How to stop Gnome Online Accounts disconnecting

On some systems a logout/login cycle causes the Gnome Online Accounts app to disconnect & start complaining about Credentials not being verified. No matter how many times you re-input username & password it complains. Workaround - Either end the "goa-daemon" in the system monitor, ...

I'm using Windows 10 for this forum, my Linux OS is on a separate machine?
Then I suppose your choice is:
a. Get no help whatsoever, or...
b. Use your Linux OS, follow pjotr's instructions, & then someone may be able to help.

Re: Is it possible to have the lockscreen the same as login?

The lock Screen will always be the same as your Desktop Background. To make your Login Screen the same, open the Menu, go to Login Window - Appearance, and set the Background to whatever you wish.

Re: How to fix cinnamon desktop problems on Mint 18.3 Sylvia

Installing a printer should not impact on the rest of your system. HP printers generally run out of the box via the hplip package which is preinstalled. However your system is now 3 1/2 years old and if it's a new printer then it may run better on Mint 19.2, the latest system. We really need to know...

Might be an obvious thing, but have you made sure that the compositor in Window Manager Tweaks is turned off, before you change your window manager, otherwise you will have 2 compositors enabled and conflicting.

Re: Transparent Menu & Panel

Thank You Smurphos. Your a star.
I actually edited the theme directly in /usr/share/themes, & set the menu to 0.80 & the panel to 0.50, following your instructions. IMO it now looks way better than the solid colour.
Thanks again. :D

Re: Mint 19 Cinnamon what's the fastest way to copy files?

Can we specify the block size in grsync? don't think you can. You might be able to using the command line. you'll have to google that. As it is, on my system 100 GB takes about 90 mins to copy to my external hard drive. So your 700 GB should take approx 10 hours. Though that is dependant on your ha...

Re: Ghost icons on taskbar? (Mate19)

This was an issue I used to have back in the days of Gnome 2. So it's no surprise it keeps popping up in Mate. I never have found a fix. Only that by either keeping tray icons to a minimum, or by delaying certain startup apps, keeps the issue at bay.
