Calibrating Second Monitor Touchscreen
Hello, I'm hoping to use an eyoyo em13L portable monitor as a second monitor with touch screen capabilities but need help calibrating the touch screen. What is happening is that the touch screen on the em13L extends all the way across its monitor and across my primary monitor. Meaning if I touch the...

Re: [SOLVED] New M.2 But Now Unable to Boot From Old SSD
On my Ryzen board I have an M.2 nvme drive which is the boot and storage for larger games that need the speed to load quicker, two SSD in SATA Ports 0 and 1 (further games and documents storage), an optical drive in SATA Port 2. The numbering starts at zero and goes to 5 on mine, so ports 4 and 5 a...

Re: [SOLVED] New M.2 But Now Unable to Boot From Old SSD
Just a It's a limitation of the Ryzen's integrated storage controller. The PCI-E lanes for SATA Ports 5 and 6 are also used by the first M.2 slot, so any device plugged into ports 5 and 6 will not work when a PCI-E M.2 device is present in slot 1. Just a quick update but I can verify this. I returne...

Re: [SOLVED] New M.2 But Now Unable to Boot From Old SSD
No problem, the only downside is the second M.2 slot uses up to x4 of the PCI-E lanes for the PCI-E x16 slot you'd typically put a GPU in and forces that into 8x. Not an issue if you aren't a massive gaming enthusiast after squeezing every last frame per second from your system though. Good to know...

Re: [SOLVED] New M.2 But Now Unable to Boot From Old SSD
What's weird is that I also have a hard drive just for storage that is Sata (SATA2G_2) but this was still detected when the M.2 was in the M.2_1 socket while the SSD Linux (SATA6G_6) was not detected. It's a limitation of the Ryzen's integrated storage controller. The PCI-E lanes for SATA Ports 5 a...

Re: [SOLVED] New M.2 But Now Unable to Boot From Old SSD
Look at the drive with gparted (or the output from sudo parted -l). If the partitions on the m.2 drive are sdXy then it is sata, if of the form nvme0nXpY, then pcie. pcie is faster than sata, but I can't say I notice much difference in real world use. It says nvme0n1 for the M.2 so it looks like it...

Re: New M.2 But Now Unable to Boot From Old SSD
Okay, I actually fixed the problem by moving the M.2 from the M.2_1 socket (A) to the M.2_2 socket (B) on my motherboard. Now my BIOS recognizes both the Linux SSD and the Windows M.2 and can boot either or. Does anyone know why this worked? I've attached the manual page concerning M.2 SSD for my mo...

Re: New M.2 But Now Unable to Boot From Old SSD
Is the M.2 pcie or sata? Assume both win and mint are installed in UEFI mode. Can you select the ssd in BIOS and boot from it? I'm not sure whether the M.2 is PCIe or SATA. It's plugged in the M.2 socket. The Linux SSD is definitely SATA. When I enter the BIOS the Linux SSD should be in SATA6G_6 bu...

[SOLVED] New M.2 But Now Unable to Boot From Old SSD
Hello all, My goal is to dual boot Linux and Windows on separate storage devices on the same computer. Initially, I only had Linux Mint 19.3 installed on a Samsung 860 EVO SSD 500GB but for Christmas I received a Samsung 970 Pro Plus 1TB M.2 and installed Windows 10 Home on it. Now when I enter the ...

Re: Updated to Kernel 5.6.13, Now No Hardware Accerlation
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am now running in kernel 5.3.18 which has fixed the issue. My display actually looks more sharp than prior! That's what happens when you use a non-stock kernel. Revert to a standard 5.3.x version. For my education what's special about the 5.3.x versions and dan...

File Manager Not Remembering File View Preference
Hello all, I hope everyone is staying safe.
My computer no longer remembers the file view preference of each folder. I can change the default but specific changes are forgotten. Any suggestions as to how to fix this as I like certain folders with different views.
Thank you!

Re: Skyrim Special Edition. No Characture Voices or Music.
Now that you have latest SDL library installed. You need to to re-compile FAudio cd ~/FAudio rm -R build mkdir build cd build cmake ../ -DXNASONG=OFF -DFFMPEG=ON make I downloaded the SDL2 2.0.10 and when I input cmake ../ -DXNASONG=OFF -DFFMPEG=ON I get this error -- The C compiler identification i...

Skyrim Special Edition. No Character Voices or Music.
Hi everyone, The game I'm talking about is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. I use a Linux Mint 19.1 machine and proton 4.11-2 to play the game. During the opening scene Ralof and the thief will start dialoguing but there is no audio to their words. In fact there is no audio to any of the...
