Re: Desktop - Cinnamon 19.1 Keeps Dropping Wifi

Sorry, I'm afraid you are now moving beyond my skill level and knowledge of Linux, Jeremy. My iwconfig results are included in this thread. If you see something I should pursue, then please let me know.

Re: Desktop - Cinnamon 19.1 Keeps Dropping Wifi

Jeremy, after reviewing a number of comments last night regarding this problem, I followed the advice of one of your colleagues who posted Linux Mint suggestions several months ago at It's Foss about ways to address this issue for Mint wifi users. He had also recommended turning Power Management "Of...

Re: Desktop - Cinnamon 19.1 Keeps Dropping Wifi

Thanks, so how do I move it onto my thread? I've tried the standard Windows copy and paste and no luck.

Re: Desktop - Cinnamon 19.1 Keeps Dropping Wifi

I just completed the Terminal Task and have the detail you requested, but can you provide a little additional detail about moving this info onto the clipboard. Where is the clipboard you are referencing? I am still unfamiliar with these aspects of Cinnamon.

Thanks.

Desktop - Cinnamon 19.1 Keeps Dropping Wifi

Afternoon. Just installed Cinnamon 19.1 in my desktop a few weeks ago. Pleased with the distro in general, not so happy with the wifi capability. It continually drops my wifi with no discernable cause. I am using a Panda PAU09 wifi adapter. My wife and I are using Comcast Broadband. The signal is VE...

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Thanks for the help. Btw, I did finally find the answer I sought. There is a topic, "Recovery using timeshift", which posed my exact question on the Forum. The user wanted to know the steps to take when your system is unbootable and a USB live version is needed and you wished to use timeshift to rec...

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Moem, I appreciate the follow-up. I read your link but still am unclear how access to a snapshot from the frozen version of Timeshift is somehow made available to the empty version of Timeshift on a Live USB after it has been installed. If, for example, my version of 19.1 froze and was inaccessible ...

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Moem, apologies for my lack of understanding regarding this process, but one final question. If I were to use my Live Version of 19.1 and it's included Timeshift to reinstall after a crash where I have no Linux access and have to go through my BIOS Boot section to do so, how does my Timeshift on the...

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Wow. The It's Foss link must not have been updated as recently as it indicates. If my Live Version of 19.1 already contains it, then I am good to go.

Thanks.

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Moem, sorry, forgot to add "...and where I will need to INSTALL Timeshift" after a crash without access to Linux. This was the purpose of the It's Foss link I referenced and why they were talking about using the command line.

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Moem, thanks. It does look promising for a system that you can still log into. However, I would like to know how to use Timeshift to restore my system if I CAN'T access Linux and I am forced to go through my desktop Boot Drives to restore it. That is what the "It's Foss" link I referenced was all ab...

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Thanks for the response. Is there not some document that IS completely correct and up-to-date to serve this purpose for Linux Mint Cinnamon users like myself? Since this is a critical function all new users are advised to take after initial installation, I am a little surprised such a document doesn...

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Yes, Karichen, that is exactly the document I was referring to in my post.

Were the instructions I restated on what to do to proactively prepare a back-up of my system in case of a crash correct?

Thanks.

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Larry, I believe my prior message stated I would be installing the snapshot on a USB flash drive.

Can anyone please tell me if the reinstall instructions I read at "It's Foss" (and included in my prior message) are correct or incorrect?

Thanks.

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

Thanks very much for the additional information. One supplemental request. The reason for my initial question was my attempt to create my first full system back-up in case of a future crash. Upon a review of various Mint Cinnamon users suggestions who appear, based on your Level ratings underneath t...

Re: Terminal Authentication Password Issue

I appreciate the follow-up, but I'm afraid I still don't have the answers to my questions. As someone new to Linux, this detail may seem basic to most of you but it clearly is not to me or, I'm sure, to others first experiencing the move from Windows to Linux. They are: 1. As a user of Mint Cinnamon...
