Suddenly cinnamon-spice-updater throws a warning about 'accessibility bus'
All of a sudden (but perhaps I updated a relevant package) I see this: $ cinnamon-spice-updater --update-all (cinnamon-spice-updater:477713): dbind-WARNING **: 00:07:44.395: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /root/.cache/at-spi/bus_0: Permission denied There are no S...

Re: Mint 21.2 fails to switch to synaptic touchpad driver
Aha - the higher the number at the start of the file (a file within directory /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d - the greater the file's precedence. So: solved.

Mint 21.2 fails to switch to synaptic touchpad driver
Dear all EDIT: SOLVED - see my last post in this thread . I have the same problem that someone else reported here having with Linux Mint 19. As that poster reports: various release notes for Mint say that in order to switch from libinput to synaptic it suffices to install the synaptic driver; so doi...

AZgl1800: whatever your thoughts on filing, undocumented behaviour is bad. Thus my original post, which sought to verify that really there was undocumented behaviour. If there is, I will file a bug report.

Nemo: thirty bookmarks seems to be the maximum . .
Dear all
I find that thirty seems to be the maximum allowed number of bookmarks in Nemo, even though I get no error message when I try to exceed that number. Can anyone shed any light, please?

Here are my software sources (presuming that the command that I used - used to generate the list - is adequate). $ grep -r --include '*.list' '^deb ' /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ /etc/apt/sources.list.d/recoll-backports-recoll-1_15-on-focal.list:deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/recoll-...

Re: FYI: kernel 6.2, supplied by Mint 21.2, looks like it causes touchpad problems
@SMG I did remove the 5.19 kernels. Should I not have? I do not think that I have or ever had a PPA for kernels. When I want to upgrade an unsuppported kernel, I use the (paid) program called 'UKUU'. (Still, that program itself is installed by a PPA, and so might, I suppose, pull kernels from there;...

Re: Libinput says my system is too slow
The libinput 'too slow' messages are symptoms of an upstream bug (though I am unsure in just what component). See e.g. here. The lock-ups that you report, oh original poster, are, I imagine, to do with something else.

Re: FYI: kernel 6.2, supplied by Mint 21.2, looks like it causes touchpad problems
SMG: thanks again.
As per the idea that you linked, I removed every package on my system that contained 'hwe'. Update Manager still offered me kernel 6.2, even after rebooting. So, I think I will just use the Update Manager's GUI context-menu option to 'ignore updates'.

I removed all 6.2 kernels, rebooted and, strangely, I'm being offered 6.2 (again!).

Re: FYI: kernel 6.2, supplied by Mint 21.2, looks like it causes touchpad problems
@SMG Thanks for the interest and expertise. If you were using a 6.1 kernel (non-OEM) then you were using an unsupported kernel. What 6.2 kernel did you have installed? I was aware that 6.1 kernels were unsupported. (I installed a 6.1 kernel via the program 'UKUU'.) The 6.2 kernel that I had and inde...

Re: FYI: kernel 6.2, supplied by Mint 21.2, looks like it causes touchpad problems
Right. On Mint 21.1, I was using a 6.1 kernel. Perhaps that is why - on Mint 21.1 - I got offered a 6.2 kernel. Still: 1) if that is so, I don't know why it is (for, the Update Manager has not offered me a kernel point upgrade in the past); 2) I read somewhere of another user of Mint 21.2 being offe...

Re: FYI: kernel 6.2, supplied by Mint 21.2, looks like it causes touchpad problems
@Midnight True
If 6.2 is a 'testing' kernel then surely it should not be offered, as a standard update, by Linux Mint. Yet (on Mint 21.2), it is. Or so I believe.

FYI: kernel 6.2, supplied by Mint 21.2, looks like it causes touchpad problems
I find that on my ThinkPad X1CG6, and Linux kernel 6.2 - a kernel that Mint 21.2 'Victoria' offers through Update Manager (as a normal update) - I had problems with my touchpad. The problem is that selecting text is hard to do - and the system log contains these messages: touchegg[994]: libinput err...

Re: Grouped Window List: Firefox Extended Support edition has the same icon as the normal edition
Thanks - it looks as though that thread has a suggestion that works. (However: I was using GWL only because of a problem with the dock called 'plank'. I find plank much better than GWL, but I had the problem with plank that, after logging off and on again (but not rebooting), plank was slow to start...

Grouped Window List: Firefox Extended Support edition has the same icon as the normal edition
Mint 21.1. Cinnamon 5.6.8 I wish to have both the browsers of my title pinned to GWL. Yet, seemingly, and seemingly unchangeably, both . . have the same icon. That is: I get two icons on the panel, one representing the normal Firefox and one the 'ESR' version, but the two icon images are the same. O...

Grouped Window List: no option to pin ksystemlog
Mint 21.1.
Cinnamon 5.6.8
$ apt list ksystemlog
[. .]
ksystemlog/jammy,now 4:21.12.3-1ubuntu1 amd64 [installed]
When I run ksystemlog, an icon for it appears within Grouped Window List - but there is no 'pin' (or 'unpin' option).

Re: What and where is the default QT theme?
My question has been answered but, unfortunately, the underlying problem persists (even when I use the QT 'gtk2' theme). To wit: unless I select it (which isn't easy . .) the small text on the VirtualBox 'about' screen is invisible. There is a screenshot (which is close enough to what I see currentl...
