mint-meta-kde doesn't exist on 19 unless it showed up in the last 48 hours.

That post will give you Mint KDE 18.3 using Cinnamon/XFCE/MATE, it does not give you an upgrade path to 19 with Mint KDE. The way I did it does not require you to scrub your system for a clean install.

Want Mint 19 but still want KDE? Have 18.3 KDE installed? Read on!

I have hopped around distros a little, Manjaro (hated AUR), Fedora KDE Spin (not my cup of tea, it was fine but eh!), Kubuntu (this was my happiest place, but still wanted Mint), even Mint Cinnamon 19 (Hate hate hate cinnamon). I wanted Mint 19 and I wanted KDE, it's my happy place. As a Linux user ...

I tried this and had a perl configuration error that killed "dist-upgrade" but I did a few other steps and am now running on Mint 19 KDE! Re: XPS 13 - Dummy Output only for sound

I just looked at the output of inxi -Fxz on my laptop and noticed that you are at bios v 1.2.3... Try going up to version 1.3.2 and see if that fixes things. To the OP, try dropping to 1.3.2. System: Host: charlie Kernel: 4.10.0-22-generic x86_64 (64 bit gcc: 5.4.0) Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.8.7 (Qt 5.6...

Re: XPS 13 - Dummy Output only for sound

I had the exact same problem with my Kaby Lake XPS 13 when I bought it in early Feb.... What it came down to was this.... Check the bios to see fi the card is listed there. If not (as was my problem) it was due to flashing to the latest bios before installing Linux. I had to revert to a previous bio...

Check out gedit-plugins. There used to be a plugin for session save in there. I haven't used it in a long time though.....

Re: Kolor-manager for linux mint KDE

I know this is old, but.....

Colord and colord-kde are running fine for me under KDE5.

Try the following:

Under KDE ‘System Settings’ –> ‘Display and Monitor’ –> ‘Compositor’ set ‘Rendering backend’ to OpenGL 3.1 and ‘OpenGL interface’ to GLX.

And at the bottom activate ‘Enable color correction’

It must be a brand new fix... I just reinstalled on Sunday and it was still needed.

Installing without an internet connection is the answer. Not sure why this is happening but it happens on my new Dell XPS 13 as well. . Did you install with an internet connection enabled? IF so, try installing without connecting to the internet. I had to do this on my Dell XPS 13.

I know you say it's solved and that it's Firefox related. When I read your first post I immediately thought about hardware acceleration within Firefox (Chrome/Chromium will probably have the same problem if hardware acceleration is not enabled). https://askubuntu.com/questions/491750/force-enable-ha...

Re: Back into the fold

Welcome back, tonyric! A friend asked a few months ago about updating her Surface to Linux. I did some research, and while there were people working on it, it wasn't yet ready for prime time. Or newcomers to Linux. I probably could have done it if I had the Surface here to play with, but she lives ...

Back into the fold

Hey guys, It's been a while, but in under 2 weeks I'll be back in the Mint world. Four years ago I bought a laptop that was cool and ran Mint pretty good when I disabled the Optimus card. Then I bought a Surface Pro 3 and last year a Surface Pro 4. Needless to say, Linux was a non-starter..... Yeste...

So, it does see the drive. Can you create a new msdos partition table on the drive and see if that clears the problem?

Re: Too hard for me

The problem is that with a six month release cycle on the main edition there will always be a new release in the works. This is why Ubuntu does not fix bugs either, too busy getting the next one out. It is unfortunate but LMDE seems an afterthought. Hardly an after thought. This is the first releas...

Re: App/Panel theming gone

Found this and it works: Add a delay (here 1 sec) before gnome-settings-daemon starts. Change the line of the file /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-settings-daemon.desktop: Exec=/usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon to Exec=bash -c "sleep 1; /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon"
