Thank you for the answer.
Any idea of how I could go about trying to fix this?
Ask you Ubuntu forums?

[Xubuntu] Issue with xed when saving files

I'm not using Mint at the moment but Xubuntu. I prefer xed to Mousepad so I installed it on Xubuntu. The issue is that when I save .js files, the file extension icon at the top left next to the file name reloads. In doing so, the content of the window moves up and down. You can see it in the .gif fi...

Avoiding workspace transition

I don't like the workspace animation effect when switching workspaces. I'd like to turn it off and have an "instantaneous" switch without the Workspace n label either. Adding to this I'd like to know whether there's a way of assigning workspaces to particular programs, like opening Firefox in the 2n...

[xed] How do I update JavaScript colors?

Methods such as

Code: Select all

substring()
get coloured in blue, while others like

Code: Select all

forEach
don't.
Is it possible to fix this manually?
I am using the Kate style scheme.

Re: Getting thinkfan to work

Hi Lanser, thanks for the answer. I think the temps are alright, 51 °C with room temperature of 24 ° C. But I still don't like the hot air coming from the left part of the keyboard when I type. The laptop is basically new; I opened it and repasted the CPU. I am using a metal support to keep it raise...

Getting thinkfan to work

I am following this guide: https://medium.com/@mirul/setting-up-thinkfan-for-thinkpad-t420-aaec5108f75f. My laptop is a Thinkpad T440P. I did what described in the URL, until the line Configure thinkpad_acpi modprobe . My /etc/thinkfan.conf file is the following now: ################################...

Terminal takes ~ 1 sec to load

I noticed that after installing Mint 19.2 Cinnamon, the terminal would load instantly.
Now after having synced 200 MB of files from Dropbox it takes ~1 sec or so for

Code: Select all

name@hostname
to show up on terminal.
What is the reason for this?

Re: Tiling not working porperly

Thank you for the answer. I'll have it as a reference but for the moment I installed Cinnamon over Xfce.

Which option do I choose for reinstalling Mint on dual boot Mint Windows system?

I have Xfce but I want to install Cinnamon.
Xfce is a fresh install thus I wouldn't lose data.
I want to install Cinnamon over Xfce.

Tiling not working porperly

Using Mint 19.2 Xfce, fresh installation.
I suspect the issue is with the terminal: you can see how the file manager and xed fit properly while there is space around the two terminal windows.
Any tips about fixing this?

Cannot open mounted drive

I cannot open Linux Mint so I am using a bootable USB drive. If I click on my SSD in the Devices list, after entering the password I get the error in the attachments. About the partitions mint@mint:~$ sudo lsblk -o NAME,FSTYPE,SIZE,MOUNTPOINT,LABEL NAME FSTYPE SIZE MOUNTPOINT LABEL fd0 4K loop0 squa...
