Re: Software Manager fails to load

Hi I am a newbie to Linux, and not very computer savvy so please make some allowances. I have just updated to a new computer after using Windows for 20 years (ugh). I was trying to load Wine onto the computer, first by using Software Manager, which failed half way through. I was using instructions ...

The Peasants’ Revolt – a bit of background. As had been agreed in parliament, we already paid a lay subsidy , ‘The grant of a fifteenth and a tenth for the defence of the realm against the Scots and 'other great matters' was made on the last day of the parliament, 23 September 1334. The sums agreed ...

Re: Dell Optiplex 3020 video issues...

Mr Een beat me to it, but that may be curable. A possible cure for the 'Software Rendering mode' is to log out, and then on the login screen click the Cinnamon icon and ensure that you're logging into the default session, and that might do it. Hopefully.

Re: Computer not recognizing wifi hardware

Hi. I just installed Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon on a Dell Inspiron 531s. Previously, it had been running Windows Vista. I am having issues getting it to connect to a wireless network. Almost every troubleshooting site I have looked at said I need to go into the Driver Manager, but when I go there, it...

I state that I do not understand it but I think it is not the same problem as it does not give me any active soft block. What can I do?
I'm not sure I do either, but what does

Code: Select all

mokutil --sb-state
tell you?

Re: Lenovo T430s graphics driver problem, system runs on video hardware acceleration

I don’t know if this adds anything, but when I saw Graphics: … (git-8faa0e2 2020-04-27 bionic-oibaf-ppa) ... I wondered if you’d installed ‘other’ drivers, as the Intel 3rd Gen driver usually seems to be the ‘i915’. If so, what was wrong with the original? You said that you’ve tried different kernel...

In 1378 the mayor, bailiffs and good men of Salisbury were given exemption from making a small barge, called a balinger for the king's fleet now at sea.’ I thought that I should have a look at ‘Safeguard’ and Rodgers says ...

Re: How do I get Chromium FFmpeg codecs (non Snaps)

I've been using Opera and have a lot of years worth of browsing in it. But Opera has always had their issues and one is their Codec. For some sites the research I found says that I need to install Chromium FFmpeg codecs. The link in the Opera forum takes me to SNAPS and I don't so SNAPS. Any other ...

The people of Weymouth didn’t have a church so had to nip across the river to Melcombe so in ‘77 the bishop of Salisbury granted them permission to build their own chapel as ‘the town had already been raided by a group of Normans, Genoese, Bretons, Picardies and Spaniards on a Sunday’. Re: Medieval Latin.

I didn’t realise how much I could waffle about the years of 1377 and 8, so I’ve split them into two posts. Jan 27 ‘77. The ‘Bad Parliament’ began. Influenced by John of Gaunt it undid the work done by the Good Parliament in trying to reduce corruption. It also introduced a poll tax. Feb 20, there we...
