Re: Mint 20.1. Restart and sudo reboot not working after new instal
The BIOS is set to ‘legacy’ which is not a search term in the installation guide so I was not helped there. Hi Michaelkhowe and welcome to the forums. There are so many different terms used that it's difficult to be specific, but in Section 4 it says "The Linux Mint ISO can be booted both in E...

Re: How to upgrade from 19.3, migration
Hi pegasis You seem to be trying to upgrade from 19.3 to 20 without losing anything. If I’m right, that can’t be guaranteed. 19 to 20 is major change in the OS and not all software that works in 19 can be guaranteed to work in 20. (Most does though) Sorry, I have little idea about what you’re trying...

I have just purchased a new HP Laptop ... it now works great. ... How do I fix it? hi nonno13 As it's new, have you applied any BIOS updates? If not, then it may be worth doing so, but if all 'works great' then I'd suggest that there's nothing to fix. Linux moans, but doesn't blow its' own trumpet ...

Re: ACPI Error (AE_NOT_FOUND)
Hello. My Mint 20.1 system works well ... I was wondering what this means, and if I should be concerned ... Hi ftnet Nope. Linux is really good at 'warning' us about what it sees as 'problems', but lousy about letting us know how it 'cured' the - supposed - 'problem'. If all runs well then - usuall...

Hi linuxforbeginners The driver is working right now! I'm not sure why it works now but it does. I'm still curious how I can solve the issue at hand. It's annoying and it takes more time to boot. I will read other topics as well. I'm delighted that the driver is working, but as for you your boot pro...

So, do you think that running it without "sudo" would not have made that problem? Hi janise, I'm not mad keen on quoting myself, but hey ho, Rather beyond me, but could the ‘sudo’ have taken you somewhere you didn’t need to be? That's all I could think of, as I had no problems with the fu...

Just did update from Linux Mint 20 to 20.1. The upgrade process went smoothly, got a message to restart for the changes to take effect. Before restarting, following the advice in the upgrade instructions, I ran also sudo apt install usrmerge. Hi janise … following the advice in the upgrade instruct...

Re: My error messages
Hi linuxforbeginners You don’t have a problem. Linux is very good at reporting ‘problems’ but not how it ‘solved’ them. It’s ‘verbose’. As you say I was ignoring it because the system would run anyway. Then that’s the right thing to do. However, you also say I cannot choose the right propietary driv...

Hi whinberry As you're using an Arch based distro wouldn't it be better to ask there? https://forum.endeavouros.com/ Or, if you have, what did they say? Yes, I dithered for a while over exactly that question. The one or two mentions of this problem I've seen online, though, referred to Mint Cinnamo...
