Win10 Shared Folder/LM 19.3 xfce/Login Issues

I've set up a shared folder on Win10--this can be successfully accessed by Android 9 and other Win10 machines. However, when trying to access Win's shared folder in Linux Mint 19.3 (Thunar or PCMANFM), I am prompted for MS userid/password (which is the same as my universal MS user/password used for ...

Re: Use xautolock in Place of pm-suspend? [SOLVED]

Code: Select all

busctl call org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1 org.freedesktop.login1.Manager Suspend b true
This crashes in the usual manner.

Hi, MrEen -- on your suggested query, I'm getting

Code: Select all

/xfce4-power-manager/logind-handle-lid-switch false
Thanks to both of you,
Jake

Re: Use xautolock in Place of pm-suspend? [SOLVED]

Can't thank you enough, both for your speed and your patience. In your opinion, is this a xfce bug or a surface-pro-6-running-xfce bug? I run xfce on other machines and haven't yet encountered this issue, though many of my machines are legacy and run outdated OS's. The fact that Linux runs at all on...

Re: Use xautolock in Place of pm-suspend?

Hey, your trouble-shooting did it. When I reset IgnoreLid=false to its default, false, in /etc/UPower/UPower.conf, rebooted, then closed the lid, the device suspended and recovered with all its hardware functioning. I'm not yet certain why the UPower command was necessary; then again, I'm the one wh...

Re: Use xautolock in Place of pm-suspend?

Apologies, I appear to have gotten ahead of myself. Yes, xfce4-session-logout --suspend crashes the touchscreen. Since I'm already using xautolock for suspend and have used xset previously for screen blanking (I don't use xscreensaver), I suppose I could disable xfce's power manager completely (I th...

Re: Use xautolock in Place of pm-suspend?

Again, thank you very much for your postings. I took your considered advice, and /etc/UPower/UPower.conf, I set IgnoreLid=true Upon reboot, that indeed disabled suspend-on-lid-close. In /etc/systemd/logind.conf, I un-commented HandleLidSwitch=suspend and rebooted. Yet, the machine won't suspend--or ...

Re: Use xautolock in Place of pm-suspend?

Ah, relatively new to LM so I didn't know systemd suspend was a component. Good to know, but I'm more confused now--I haven't installed pm-utils, so it would appear that the lid close command uses "systemctl suspend," crashing the touch screen, but a timed suspend with systemd suspend doesn't. Thoug...

Use xautolock in Place of pm-suspend? [SOLVED]

Running 19.3/xfce on a Microsoft Surface Pro 6, pm-suspend will crash the touch screen. xautolock is fine.

For a timed suspend, I successfully use:

Code: Select all

xautolock -locker "systemctl suspend" -time 10
Is there a way I can use xautolock as the suspend command when closing the screen?

Thanks,
Jake

Re: xfce 4.14

Hi, silfox2000,

Running 19.2/Surface Pro 6, I've tried your suggestion and added/updated the ppa:xubuntu-dev/staging, and while I can update some plugins, I'm still at xfce4-panel 4.12.2

Could you advise?

Thanks,
Jake

Running 19.2, Upgrade to xfce 4.14?

Hello, All, Using Surface Pro 6/LM 19.2 xfce, I've added and updated these ppas: ppa:xubuntu-dev/staging ppa:xubuntu-dev/ppa ppa:unit193/xfce While I am able to update some plugins, I have not been able to update the panel itself, which remains 4.12.2 Is that 19.2 limitation or am I not jiggling the...
