Re: tsMuxerGUI on Linux Mint Gnome

You can make a flatpak request on https://discourse.flathub.org/c/requests/5 and someone might build it for the public to use. I know it is annoying how Linux has very little back/forward comparability. That is one of the OS's biggest weaknesses.

It still won't work. I am thinking maybe their may be a bash script I can make to fix it. Any other ideas?

PavuControl recording system audio help!

Every time I run audio recording applications like Audacity or Kazam I have to manually open Pavu Control and select my headphones. This is fine with Audacity as I am in no rush, but with Kazam I need real time screen recording with audio and I do not want to be forced to manually select my headphon...

Re: WebAppManager fails to detect Firefox-ESR

Apparently you cannot open pages in any external Firefox browser, ESR or normal release. I don't know if you could edit the application configuration unless you know Python. https://github.com/linuxmint/webapp-manager#faq https://github.com/linuxmint/webapp-manager/issues/58 I am not using an exter...

Re: How do I build webapp-manager from source?

Frome the top level directory where you ran make, simply run dpkg-buildpackage This will be the .deb's and place them outside (one level up) from the webapp-manager folder. When you run the command just install whatever dependencies it wants. Thank you. I forgot about that command, lol. The problem...

WebAppManager fails to detect Firefox-ESR

For those who don't know Firefox has an enterprise release called ESR (extended support release) it only updates once a year. A PPA I used is here. https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/ubuntu/ppa Anyhow, WebApp Manager does not detect Firefox-esr. Only Chromium. Is there a config file I can e...

How do I build webapp-manager from source?

Software in reference: https://github.com/linuxmint/webapp-manager/blob/master/README.md I have two python libraries it requested, and I want to build it from source. I ran sudo make and sudo ./makepot Then I ran a special command sudo checkinstall --install=no because it can make a .deb file of the...

Bash script to copy any text to clipboard

I'm working on fixing a bug in between Gimp 2.10 and QT programs that save clipboard data. This bugfix involves replacing the image clipboard data with text clipboard data. Is there a bash script that can automatically paste text in my clipboard? Example: $copyclipboard -a Now "a" would be...

I followed the advice here, and the Index number works but since it frequently changes it's not practical at all. https://superuser.com/questions/618374/muting-an-application-from-terminal-in-linux The second piece of advice was on the same page and (link below) list solutions that worked for some p...

bash script to enable/disable a program's audio

First of all. I have PulseEffects installed so I don't know if this makes a difference regarding how the script will be written. I want to enable/disable Audio in VirtualBox. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/646833154992111616/796115553633828874/unknown.png I need a bash script to disable an...

Re: Ubuntu Cinnamon 20.10

Well It's 2021 and I am still on Mint 19.2, with the only exceptions being source builds of newer versions of Gimp and Nomacs, and PPA's of LibreOffice 7, Minetest, Inkscape and Virtual Box 6. I only care about a handful of software updating. I don't like how the whole system has to update when I on...

rembg PyTorch - Open source software to remove backgrounds from photos.

Here's software I just found out about last week! It's under open source (BSD and MIT) licenses, runs without connecting to a network, and it removes backgrounds from photos. Just put images in a folder and run it! https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/646833154992111616/796065777769906176/unknow...

you could remove that too and just use apt and synaptic.

There won't be any snaps unless you activated the snap service yourself and installed them, by default snap is disabled for Linux Mint 20.
Just do what I do. Read about software in a browser then install it using apt on the terminal.

I always used Libre Office, even when I use Windows. :D Same here...kinda sorta. I switched to Libre Office two or three years before I gave Windoze the heave ho a year ago. I've been very happy with it. LibreOffice bois in the house. But yeah, I use LibreOffice because of my dislike for SAAS (soft...

Re: why are the software packages not up to date.

Linux, unlike Windows does not have much backward compatibility. If software isn't maintained it's lost to history. So the community is forced to have static releases where everything updates under a central plan on fixed checkpoints, or rolling releases; which it seems to do best. All the core libr...
