Re: Shotwell VS Adobe Photoshop-SOLVED

Gimp 2.10 from 2.8 is a night and day difference due to the "/" key allowing command searches. It's amazing how such a small tweak can make gimp far more user friendly.

I'm running the latest Nemo on Mint 19.2

I don't like the new Cinnamon Panel as it has taken a way the ability to space icons on the taskbar. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/640348421437521943/678746043688419328/unknown.png However I wanted to see if the newest Nemo corrected errors I was having with memory leaks. Right now I am r...

Re: update gThumb?

Just find a ppa or .deb file you can install, but if it wants to remove anything in the process of installing, STOP and abort the install. The reason you don't get up to date software in LTS releases isn't laziness, it's the lack of backwards compatibility in Linux. Lack of binary compatibility on ...

Restarting Nemo with previous content reloaded

Is there any bash command that will restart nemo with it's previous content opened? In example: The previous window and tabs.

I am doing this to deal with the fact that Nemo on 19.X slows down when I drag and drop content with the cursor.

Re: Brave browser and KolourPaint

Brave can be installed with a PPA and KolourPaint is already in the default repos. KolourPaint works perfect on GTK3 desktops but requires a lot of QT/KDE libraries and it just so happens Linux Nerds have this perfectionist mindset where they want to exclude the mixing of GTK and QT. So its unlikely...

Re: Instructing a custom nemo plugin to open a folder

Right click + X is a natural shortcut to open any folder with Xnview from Nemo's content menu.

Re: Instructing a custom nemo plugin to open a folder

Try [Nemo Action] Active=true Name=_Xnview Comment=Open xnview in %F Exec=xnview -d %F Icon-Name=/home/contrast/Icons/xnview.png Selection=any Extensions=dir; Re a keyboard shortcut with the context menu visible, as written the keyboard shortcut X will run the action. Instructing a custom nemo plugin to open a folder

I am adding a image viewing program called "Xnview" to Nemo's context menu so I can successfully reopen folders with Xnview. I am aware /home/ USERNAME /.local/share/nemo/actions is the folder where plugins are stored. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/640348421437521943/676244004232495135/un...

Re: 17 worked better

What made Mint 17/Ubuntu 14.04 LTS's package base better?

By all means keep using it and ignore updates while the rest of us stay up to date.

Re: 17 worked better

If people fancy one piece of software from the 17.X series. It would be better to find a way they could port it to 19.X or future releases rather then stay using 17. After all it's base buntu 14.04 LTS is discontinued and I don't know if one could keep desirable software up to date using PPA's alone...

Re: Using http://old-releases.ubuntu.com properly

It's an utter joke to assume Linux has viruses written for it. Is that so? Then get ready for a good laugh: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_malware true but it's very uncommon. If old software is static linked and fire jailed the security risk are null. It's isolated from the rest of the system...

Re: Using http://old-releases.ubuntu.com properly

Outside of web browsers and email clients being a real security risk must old software that doesn't connect to the internet is fine. The only security risk would be if one was being targeted by a digital mob in which I would call you paranoid. Static linking old software is preferred to avoid depend...

Re: Using http://old-releases.ubuntu.com properly

Security precautions when you are loading packages from years outdated repositories? Sure thing. In case it wasn't clear enough: Running unsupported and outdated packages is the opposite of being secure. Maybe running old software could cause a library breakage but it's an utter joke to say i...
