Re: dual boot to single boot
You may consider installing this package before doing anything (boot-repair). You can then delete the Ubuntu partition, allocate the free space however you want (NEVER EVER RESTART AFTER THIS OR ELSE YOUR BOOTLOADER WILL ERROR OUT AND THE COMPUTER WON'T BOOT UP AGAIN UNLESS YOU USE A LIVE ISO TO FIX...

Re: Dual boot clock glitch
I think there's nothing wrong about raising concerns about potential problems of Linux or dual-booting it with Windows such as this one. People are just making some good natured jokes. If your first language is not English it might look like criticism but it's all in good fun. Relax. Ohhhhhh, My ap...

Re: Dual boot clock glitch
Please, kindly don't act like Linux is flawless and Windows is the one that's just f**king up crap. Expect that Linux newbies will dual-boot it with Windows, and the problem won't pop up until Linux is successfully installed. I think the rest of the picture is visible by now. I'm experienced, so, It...

Re: Run Linux Mint in a virtual machine
Installing this way means you get updates Does that mean I get updates in Update Manager? Yes, repositories allow the Update Manager to detect, download, and install updates of VirtualBox for you. You don't have to do all of this manually every time there's a new version. Also, keep in mind that th...

Re: Dual boot clock glitch
It bothers me that Linux has to be modified for the sake of Windows so I modify Windows to behave itself: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation] "RealTimeIsUniversal"=hex(b):01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 Just stick it a tex...

Re: Dual boot clock glitch
Open Terminal. Run timedatectl set-local-rtc 1 . Now Mint will use the system clock and stop resetting it. One of many things which should be mentioned in the Installation Guide but isn't. Then why don't they add it to the Installation Guide? I myself struggle sometimes to find that exact command, ...

Re: Replacing MATE with Cinnamon [19.3]
Thank you all! Here's what I did. I basically backed up my home folder including .config using the Backup Tool, then I backed up my PPAs using Y PPA Manager. Then I formatted the disk that had Linux on it and I installed LM Cinnamon just fine. After that, I restored the 2 backups that I had, fixed a...

Re: Replacing MATE with Cinnamon [19.3]
Since I now have everything I desperately need backed up, maybe I'll just trash the whole thing and reinstall Mint. Some things in Life need sacrifice after all.

Re: Replacing MATE with Cinnamon [19.3]
Two Three quick remarks: - This is why some people like having home as a partition, not a folder. Because then it's trivially easy to retain your home while doing a reinstallaton. - I'd be surprised if Mate themes worked on Cinnamon. I've been surprised before, but you may want to check. And the sa...

[SOLVED] Replacing MATE with Cinnamon [19.3]
Hello! So, I got extremely irritated of the fact that MATE keeps literally freezing to a point in which I just do the "REISUB" thing to restart the computer whenever 90% of the RAM gets filled. This has never happened on Cinnamon despite it being more hardware demanding than MATE (surprisi...

I'd love to make my MATE panel to look more modern
Hello, fellas! It's been a while. So, I've been trying for 2 days to make my MATE panel look like the Windows 7 taskbar (including the start button), I heard of Icing Task Manager, but as far as I know, it's only for Cinnamon and it's not even available anymore. Is there a similar program designed s...

Annoying Compiz bug makes window resizing lag a lot
Hello, guys! It's been a while! So, as I said in my previous post here, I finally got Compiz to work the way I want it to work. One problem though. When I set Compiz's Default Resize Mode to "Normal" (which is what I want), the window that I try to resize seriously lags in an unbearable wa...

Re: Problems with Snap, theming, & Compiz
Finally found a solution for the theming & Compiz problems. Turns out, ocs-url (which is the program I use to install themes, cursors, etc. from Mate-look.com) actually installs all themes, icon packs, everything to my Home folder, which means that it basically only installs everything to be use...

Re: My concerns about the Nemo File Manager
What I've learned to do is to only pull the drive out when its icon in the list disappears. Pull it before then and problems will arise. Told ya, mate. Whether I wait for it to finish doing everything and for the icon to disappear, or just straight up bite the bullet, the result is still the same.

Re: My concerns about the Nemo File Manager
Odds are it's either something to do with your hardware or something else in your system configuration. I've used LM Cinnamon with Nemo continuously through the latter part of 17.x through the current release, and sporadically across a few earlier releases, and I've never had any issues with data t...

Re: My concerns about the Nemo File Manager
I think you guys should know how)? https://feren-os-user-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/sendfeedback.html These are support forums for Linux Mint, not other distros using components. There's no harm in asking in the appropriate chat forum, but you need to remember that the file manager is often dee...

My concerns about the Nemo File Manager
Heya y'all! Hope you guys are in good health! So, I downloaded Feren OS and gave a live session of it a go. Pretty amazing, yet its default settings had a few flaws but ey, at least I made sure I could fix everything. I have a small problem with it though, it uses the Nemo FIle Manager. It's beautif...
