Re: Auto-mounting a 2nd HD

rmlazzari, on what language are you running your Mint installation?
There might be a different name for the "Disks" application if your not on an English language installation.

Re: backup question

Very much what everyone recommends. Instead of using the additional VeraCrypt you probably want to encrypt the external drive(s) with Mint's built-in encryption (LUKS). You can choose to encrypt the disk with LUKS when choosing to format with Ext4. As for the hardware, I found Seagate's Backup Plus ...

Re: Warpinator installation on Mint 19.3?

I think there's quite a number of people who want to keep running 19.3 until end of support but still want to be able to benefit from Warpinator. Thus I fully understand and support the OP's request. Until it's possible to (hopefully) get Warpinator from the official repository, I only can recommend...

Re: GPU didn't hold on tight enough and fell off the bus...

Very glad to see a possible solution here, hopefully it will work. Freezes are the probably most annoying problem to sort out as there are so many possible reasons. I too went to look for a solution yesterday but haven't yet verified my search results to your specific output. Among the driver, which...

Re: Need help with Initramfs / TPM / ACPI during boot

Probably not of big help, but you write that you were using 19.3 without issues before.
Was this on the same hardware? Has there anything been changed?

Could it be that the new video card interferes with the onboard devices.
Does removing the new video card restore your WIFI and onboard devices?

Re: Warpinator installation on Mint 19.3?

Using the file you linked MrEen probably won't work as it seems to be version 1.0.2. What I believe is on Mint 20.0 is Warpinator 1.0.6. As far as I understood the versions must be the same to provide interoperability between 19.x and 20.0. I went through the build process as described on the above ...

Re: Linux mint 20 Battery Drain issue on HP Elitebook 8460p

Ok but hows it going to help? On the same bios i was getting a better battery backup on windows. True actually, I can't explain why there should be any difference from a BIOS point of view. You only need to apply the latest version. I actually was surprised how untouched HP's BIOS update functional...

Re: Linux mint 20 Battery Drain issue on HP Elitebook 8460p

Can you please explain it further or give me link to any tutorial? I have never done this before. BTW i have downloaded the latest bios. I'm sorry but I wouldn't consider flashing the BIOS something for inexperienced users. If things go wrong your computer might become useless. It probably would be...

Re: Linux mint 20 Battery Drain issue on HP Elitebook 8460p

How do you choose the bios? I went to the hp website and it detected my os linux. But the BIOS showing up were released on Mar 15, 2011. Which is actually older than my current bios. When I had to flash the BIOS on a EliteBook 840 G1 I just chose to download the BIOS for another OS (e.g. Windows 7 ...

Re: Hibernate and Mint Linux 20 Ulyana

Had this happen a few times in the last two days on a HP EliteBook 840 G1 with Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon, but can't replicate the problem reliably somehow.
Thanks for the hint with the power button. I was using reisub to overcome the unresponsive desktop.

Re: Alternative for Asunder's CDDB entry?

That's pretty nice with these AppImages all41, didn't know about them before. Looks to be like some equivalent to portable apps which I was using under Windows. As for Asunder, it seems to work again. Probably DB-server related issue, who knows. Anyway I'm back on track again so to speak. ;) Thanks ...

I'm going to wait for a few days to see whether the CDDB access issue is something general which soon will be fixed. O...

Re: Alternative for Asunder's CDDB entry?

I have set gnudb.gnudb.org in preferences under CDDB server for port 8080. I have not been able to get it to recognize disks I have (Santana,Bryan Ferry, Sam Roberts). This was never a problem in the past. Is there another step I need to make Well, according to gnudb.org it should be port 8880 inst...

Alternative for Asunder's CDDB entry?

Up until last week I was able to use Asunder's CDDB function to retrieve disc information from freedb.freedb.org. Out of a sudden it stopped working and upon some research I now realize that it was supposed to stop working already a few months ago! I now fail to find an alternate CDDB server entry t...
