Re: Jitsi upgrade
I just was wondering whether there is any advantage when installing the client at all. Are there any more features when compared to the browser-only version?

Re: Granny's here now . . .
Welcome! (*^.^*)/ You can run Windows 7 in VirtualBox but it's not secure anymore to connect Windows 7 to the internet. For this reason you might want to consider to run it in a host-only configuration. There's plenty of information on how to do this. Just search for "how to set up host-only fo...

You probably might want to check/adjust the screensaver's "Lock settings".
Any setting there that helps to overcome your problem?

Re: GMX E-Mail
If you get email(/something) for free, chances are high that you are the product of said company.
So you better have a close look at their terms of services before you sign up.
As for recommendations, I'd add mailfence.com to the already mentioned mailbox.org and posteo.de.

Re: Mint cannot connect to server
I'm sorry I only can guess from here as my Linux knowledge is still very limited. As the internet connection seems to work at least for a while it could be that one of the startup applications is part of the problem or the update manager itself. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me has an id...

Re: Mint cannot connect to server
Sorry to hear about your Linux mint help. Unfortunately my first Mint version was 19.x and your problem might be version related. So just to be sure: did you check your network cabling? Is everything plugged-in well? Is the network cable ok? No damage (e.g. kink) to the cable? Do you have any other ...

Re: Install Linux Mint 20
I ran a lot of setups in various languages since 19.x and I never came across something like this. You write that you tried different hard disks, so you probably thought it might be a hardware related problem. Me too I think this could be something hardware related. Do you have the possibility to ru...

Thank you very much for that Jože.
It would be great to configure it on the router directly.
Unfortunately I'm restricted to my provider's router which doesn't allow it.

Any experience in implementing DNSSEC/DNS-over-TLS on Linux Mint?
I'm in the process of gathering information on how to easily implement DNSSEC and DNS-over-TLS on Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.3/20. I'm still pretty new to Linux, so the implementation should be as simple as possible. - I don't necessarily want to alter too many built-in system config files and services....

Re: Encryption questions
Me too I think it's a plus to use Linux Mint's integrated full disk encryption. I moved over from Windows to Linux Mint a bit more than a year ago and never had a problem relating to the encryption. I'm still running on my original installation even if I do quite a bit of "tinkering". Pers...

Re: Steam on Linux Mint 20 (MATE)
I don't use Steam myself, just was wondering:
If you run steam from the terminal, does it just return to the cursor after the "updating thing" or is there any other message left within the terminal window?

I'm a bit confused because you wirte the problem exists with Thunderbird as well.
As for email clients running in your browser, I would have suspected such a behavior in connection with firejail.
