If I keep settings it just stays like the screenshot.

And compiz --replace does the same thing.

Re: Borked my Compiz

that seemed to work slightly better, I'm guessing -f forces the installation of all related packages... anyway, this is what happens.

Re: Borked my Compiz

well, i tried to reinstall it, but it doesn't work right, so i'm probably missing something, or it just didn't get installed correctly to run right.

Borked my Compiz

So, I wanted to install the compiz settings manager so I could control what was on and off instead of the basic "Desktop Effects" settings. I'd done it on my last install, but I've seemed to mess it up on this one. I installed the manager, so none of the settings I changed in the manager actually ch...

Re: Mintmenu in AWN?

well, I dug around and found like a default GNOME menu, but i really miss a lot of features that mintmenu has.

Anyway, I was just trying to snazz up my desktop, but having all that fancy stuff kinda gets on my nerves now... lol.

Mintmenu in AWN?

Is there anyway to put mintmenu in the Avant Window Navigator... because if I could do that, I'd probably be able to get rid of all panels completely.

Thanks

Error Writing Disk?

So, everytime I burn a CD/DVD of any type (Audio, Data) I always get a "Error Writing to Disc" message... it's not really a problem, because every disc I've burned works great... but it just has me wondering.

I have a plextor px-740a drive.

Re: Mint on Eee PC?

So, my mom was in the market for a laptop. My sister has just bought a macbook from my suggestion (i'll never personally own a mac, but for a full featured laptop so she can browse the internet listen to music and play WoW you can't get much better build quality)... anyway, so I suggested the eee pc...

Re: Screen Tearing

okay thanks! that's the problem. My video card was running at 50hz, which made it impossible for VSync to be effective. Now with VSync on with compiz, everything is much better!

Re: Screen Tearing

well the best way I can think of explaining it is one: posting a link to the solution to the problem of screen tearing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_synchronization). And two, explain it in the best terms I can... So basically what it means is my 3d card is refreshing at a rate differently ...

Daryna is GREAT! except for Opera

So I just got Daryna installed, and it's a great upgrade from Celena. However, Opera consistantly hangs, and goes grayscale on me. I've gone back to Firefox because it's such an issue. I love the newer versions of Opera so much that I'd prefere to use it. I was curious if people are experiencing the...

Re: Screen Tearing

I'm referring to the visual problem only. Say on Mac OSX you drag a window, and the window and it's contents smoothly move around with your mouse I think it looks really nice, and adds a bit of elegance to rearranging windows and other things that you might be dragging. It also allows you to view/re...

Screen Tearing solved

One thing that has been starting to bug me visually about linux, is it seems that with any window manager i've seen, there's serious screen tearing issues. I thought that with a 3d compositer, like compiz that that would be rememdied, but it isn't. even with VSync turned on it seems to still be an i...
