Re: Realtek Card Reader on HP laptop not working

I haven't tried that, but it would probably work. Most of my USB devices work fine. I don't have a USB card reader though, and would like to use the onboard card reader.

Re: Realtek Card Reader on HP laptop not working

No it doesn't appear in gparted. I'm actually trying to format it for a pi. I can't get the Linux to see the sd card. The card reader shows up under lspci command, just never reads/notices/mounts any card that I install. I figure it's a firmware issue as well. I looked for firmware and instructions b...

Realtek Card Reader on HP laptop not working

My SD card doesn't read any SD card. When I put it in, it doesn't mount, doesn't show up anywhere. I have spent the last two days trying everything that I have found on-line. I have upgraded my kernel, I have restarted multiple times, I have added lines to /etc/modules, and nothing is working. I typ...

Re: Need to retrieve folder from sda3 *EDIT*

So, I went through the link posted by usbtux and got it to move the files to the tmp directory (I tried this before but it wasn't successful), but they still aren't accessible. It shows a bunch of folders and files but they are all appearing to be encrypted.

Help!

Re: Need to retrieve folder from sda3 *EDIT*

OK, I'm going to attempt to get this resolved again. I need to get at the files in the encrypted home folder. When I go into terminal and type in ecryptfs-mount-private I get a message saying 'ERROR: Encrypted private directory is not setup properly' and I can't get in. I am not sure how to use Cryp...

Re: HP Notebook 2000 CD boot issue SOLVED

The UEFI boot manager is proprietary to the windows, or HP. When it was looking at the image on the DVD, it didn't recognize it, so it wouldn't load it. Fortunately, there was a legacy boot option, and when I enabled that, I was able to force the boot from DVD and it is running normally now.

I have changed the boot priority so that DVD/CD drive is at the top, and have also attempted to force boot to the drive. Neither option will boot from the DVD. How do I get...

Mint 8 suddenly not booting !!SOLVED!!

I can't get my partition containing the Mint8 to mount. I get through the Grub, I get the mint splash logo to display for a minute, and then the screen goes black. When I press any key, I get a message in script, not in UI that says= mount: mounting //dev/disk/by-uuid/ HDD ID on/root failed: Invalid...
