Re: Errors in updating software manager
Ran the terminal command and removed the line in the first para and saved the file. However when I refreshed update manager I got this. W: https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb/dists/public/InRelease: Key is stored in legacy trusted.gpg keyring (/etc/apt/trusted.gpg), see the DEPRECATION section in apt...

Errors in updating software manager
For the past couple of days I am getting errors when updating software. W: Target Packages (main/binary-amd64/Packages) is configured multiple times in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list:1 and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google-chrome.list:3 W: Target Packages (main/binary-all/Packages...

Re: Plex Libraries
looked at this and it left me totally bemused. I have very little knowledge of this terminal commands and just could not understand what I was supposed to be doing. Did try doing this, where I used my username of muffy to substitute instead of chuck but seems like I am now a superuser and cannot see...

Plex Libraries
I have a nvidea shield and want to use my Linux machine as the server. I have installed Plex Media on it ok and can see my other Plex Servers. On my Linux Machine everything went fine until it came to the part of installing my libraries. I want to use a internal 4tb drive, location is /media/muffy o...

Change colour of mouse pointer
I do not have very good eyesight and sometimes don't notice where my mouse is. In Windows 10 I notice apart from enlarging the pointer, as you can in Linux, in Linux there does not seem an option to colourize the pointer. Is there a way to do this?
I am running Linux Mint 20 (Mate). TIA.

Re: Vivaldi Opening at boot
The issue might not be related to Vivaldi. It could be that on bootup, something else is attempting to open that page. And since Vivaldi is your default browser, Vivaldi is used to open that page. For example, it might be a setting in Plex that you're looking for. Thanks ugly that was the issue. In...

Vivaldi Opening at boot
I am running LM 20.1 (Ulyssa) and recently opened a Plex site, http://localhost:32400/web/index.html#!/ Since then when I boot up my LM machine, Vivaldi automatically boots up into that page. I have looked at all the Vivaldi settings but can't see why Vivaldi should open when Linux boots up. Can any...

Re: GRUB timeout in LM20
Any adjustment to /etc/default/grub must be made as root and followed up by sudo update-grub Until the transition from 19.3 to 20.0 is completed I suggest that you set the timeout to 2. It can be reduced later. I did this in terminal and updated as suggested. I am happy with 1 sec as if I need to g...

Re: GRUB timeout in LM20
on most of my dual_boot PCs, the time out is set to either 10s or 5s, & depending on which system, that I'm tending to load the most often. and I've an preference for some sort of delay, as that will still give access to the other system. Hi Pierre when I am using both systems I agree with you,...

Re: GRUB timeout in LM20
... so modified the GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 but then it takes 10secs to boot from GRUB. I changed this to 3 and the delay was as I expected 3 secs. When I changed back to 0 it took 10secs. This is a known behavior of GRUB, where a value of zero defaults to 10. I don't know why, but I'm sure you can find pas...

GRUB timeout in LM20
I have clean installed LM20 to my second SSD (sdb) with LM19.3 on sda. I have legacy bios and have set my boot drive as sdb so that I can customise LM20 to my specs as I have in LM19.3, as shown in my other topic here https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=323356. When my machine boot...

Can;t believe it. The startup sound has stopped working again. Checked that startup command and it is unchanged. It's late now and will get back to this tomorrow.

Re: No startup Sound in LM20 MATE
Those other things (ClearWeatherScreenlet and such) are a separate issue. Change the command for your sound startup thing adding the word play to the front of the command followed by a space: play /usr/share/sound/linux.... Did that to no avail. BTW, in 19.3 the command is preceded by paplay? Weird
