Re: $_FILES faiis with code=1

The original problem on the hosting server has been solved somehow or another. So I don't need to be debugging it on my local machine and can put the put the problem on the back burner.

Thank's for all your help.

Re: $_FILES faiis with code=1

php's built-in web-server is a new one on me; and I did not notice exactly what you were doing in your first post. Checking it out on php.net and following your approach, I was successful, but not without some grief. Apparently, this server doesn't recognize the suffix .htm. No matter what html file...

Re: $_FILES faiis with code=1

Thank you for your response. As far as the web server is concerned, I'm running abyss X1 from aprellium.com. I haven't had any trouble with it; but I guess I should try posting my question on their forum. FWIW I've been using the windows version of abyss for many years and now Linux's. I'm impressed...

Re: Battery level display

OP here. Wonder of wonders. I booted the machine a couple of blocks away and dragging the mouse across the battery icon did bring up what I wanted, just like y'all said. The status said that it was charging; but the level was still at zero after charging for a long time. So I concluded that the batt...

Re: Battery level display

I'm afraid I don't know what to right click on. But I should be able to click the Menu icon and then"All". Then if "panel" were to appear in the list of apps in the rightmost column, I could continue with the sequence you mention. But there is no "panel' app. Also, I had the idea that what I am look...

Re: Battery level display

I presume you mean the battery icon on the panel.

http://biketrain.net/panel.png

Dragging the mouse across the panel does nothing. Is this one of those things that can be turned on and off?

Battery level display

Acer AO532h Linux 19.3 Tricia MATE 1.22.2 kernal 4.4.0 I would like to know the state of the battery. I've scoured the "conrol center" but cannot find a way to display the battery level. E.g., time or % remaining, charging or no, time till full charge, etc. There is a battery icon on the panel; but ...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

try a different live distro, have you tried anything other than mint? bios settings are all up to you, maybe something is blocking the boot there. also unplug all hdmi and other usb Funny you should ask. I looked at Ubuntu; but it claimed to require 25G of my 30GB SSD, I then tried Debian which onl...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

how old is the Hard Drive in that machine? It's beginning to sound like H.D. Failure. Just a guess though. The machine was purchased in July of 2018. No doubt there is a HD problem; but I doubt it is hardware related. I'm about ready to try to scrape it and start over. So I googled "format hard dri...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

I wouldn't blame timeshift since I can't access it with a frozen OS. boot with a linux mint live and open timeshift > in options select it where you had it selected before and you have your system back BUT: UNcheck Bootloader Options (Advanced) so it will not install bootlader new it will keep it a...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

I have no training other than Fortran on an IBM 1620 back in the days of punched cards and debugging by studying a core dump. When PC's came along I got interested in programming as a hobby starting with dBase for Dos, moving onto Visual Fox Pro when Windows appeared, and then web applications usin...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

This drive doesn't resemble the Mint live distro that I've been using. Its structure: Okay, I'll bite, how the heck did you do that? A live boot USB with a Dell folder simply isn't possible. Or are you describing the internal drive? No, I'm describing the USB drive. I was about to burn a new Mint o...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

@pbear: Following your suggestion I tried loading mint on my windows 10 computer. The GUI appeared sort of; only the task bar with the expected buttons appeared at the bottom. Then it froze. I pulled out another USB drive to try. It booted to Mint and worked like expected (on the windows machine tha...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

so with all your training and skills as a software programmer you didn't once think of posting some outputs that are useful in solving your issue? i have had many successes restoring my mint 19.2 from a damage boot using sometimes usb live 18.3 xfce. i do acknowledge that timeshift sometimes malfun...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

Do you have access to another computer where you can reburn the installation medium? I should have thought of that from the beginning. It's the most likely explanation, particularly if you originally burned the USB with Etcher (as recommended in the Mint Installation Guide). For reasons I've never ...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

The ESC button has nothing to do with the machine other that if it is UEFI enabled or Bios. It's how you access the grub menu from a Ubuntu based machines Grub menu. If you have Mint installed. They you can bring up the grub menu via one of those keys. Which will give you access to advanced options...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

I am a bit confused now. You said you scrapped windows 10, but apparently there is still a windows boot manager present. If windows is still there it will be a bit cramped on the disk. And the windows boot manager may interfere at boot time. I havent touched windows in 7 years so I cannot advise yo...

Re: Mint freezes immediately upon boot

I suspect the pc still boots from the ssd even when you have the live usb plugged in. You will have to go into the bios (I think thats F2 at startup on a dell) to tell it to boot from usb. I am not familiar with dell bios(or uefi) so how this setting can be done I do not know, maybe someone else is...
