Stop being such an ungrateful person. You offer no thanks or courtesy to those trying to help you. Remember Linux isn't just about the OS it's more about the community, for which we are proud. The responders to your question are all trying to help you but you seem reluctant to take the advice on boa...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE released!

Great and well worth the wait :) we don't mind really as we all know you are taking care to give us our favourite desktop that extra tweak!!! I used the installation upgrade for the first time last night and how impressed am I. Slicker than silk.... having removed the Nvidia drivers using the wizard...

My love for linuxMint but......

I recently installed linuxMint and found this to be a great distro and I felt this was THE one for me.... I've been fickle in the past with other distros because of little niggles that just irritate me! Trouble is I am a KDE lover and the standard linuxMint desktop environment, is of course Gnome. D...

Re: Linux Mint 10 KDE

Well I'm now going to try the LinuxMint KDE version. Okay its based on Ubuntu 10.04; but that's long term support. I have been with LM for a good couple of weeks but unfortunately I'm a KDE boy.... I love this distro and will try your KDE issue but I feel that I may drift to Suse again :(

Re: thinking of switching to lmde

awwwww but i like the splash screen -sulks- Well, maybe eventually Clem will add it back in...i would imagine on a rolling set-up like this, those things can be sent to you if they make a change...i think he wasn't happy with it for some reason or another...which is why it hasn't initially been inc...

Re: What are your top tips for a Newbie?

My tip is to maybe first use linux on a non critical machine. You can then experiment to your hearts content, with the knowledge that it doesn't matter.... you can still manage your bank account etc. By saying this I'm not implying linux is somehow unstable etc, just you may feel safer in this envir...

I'm back :)

I've always loved the look and feel of linuxMint (far more sophisticated than ubuntu!); but sadly in the past have never managed to configure my Maudio soundcard with pulseaudio. This is a deal breaker for me as I purchased the card specifically for high quality sound! However, in spite of my wife's...

Re: nvidia driver..........

Because Nvidia drivers are non-free, most disro's default to nv driver which is free. To install the proprietry Nvidia drivers in LinuxMint use "Hardware Drivers" under the Administration menu. Hope this helps

Re: Linux Mint 7 'Gloria' KDE released!

Congratulations!!!!! I look forward to trying it out. One question; probably just me , but is there a x64 edition of this. I can't for the life of me see a x64 download link. This is kind of important as I use Mint as my main OS, virtualizing Windows Vista etc (thus I want to make use of my 8Gb RAM)...

Re: Theme Question

Welcome to the world of Linux!!! And of course to LinuxMint!!! Also within a lot of themes you can tweek the settings (the best bit) to suit your ideas of theme nirvana!! Just go to "preferences" then "appearance" and then click on "customise". Beware though, if you use Firefox check the theme works...

Re: Antivirus on Mint 7

If you need av then Bitdefender is a good one to consider: http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-14-en--BitDefender-Free-Edition.html Of course this isn't open source free so you may want to try Clamav (Command line av available through repository) or Clamtk (Gui version of Clamav, again available thro...

Re: Google Chrome OS

Surely with Google's name supporting the Linux Kernel this has to be good news for every Linux user as more hardware venders are likely to bring support to Linux? The Kernel at the moment is ammazing in what it supports "out of the box" (far more than Windows) but I personally look (hopefully) to ev...

Glad you got things working!!! I have the same soundcard - doesn't it sound good???? As for the computer speakers, they are probably using your motherboards onboard soundcard.

Have a great party tonight, which if you're in the same timezone as me is probably in full swing!!!!
