Re: Space Problems

I give this solid advice to everyone:
Buy more drives!
Don't mess around with partitions and all that, just solve your problems properly at the root.
SSDs are fairly cheap these days.

Re: Changing the default terminal

I believe what I'm referring to is the terminal emulator, which I expected to update after setting up ZSH, but perhaps that expectation was incorrect. Zsh is a shell program. Any terminal emulator can run any shell. You are using Cinnamon, so the Terminal emulator is called gnome-terminal . By defa...

Re: Install flatpaks as user in software manager !

I don't think Software Manager has that capability yet, you can request it: https://github.com/orgs/linuxmint/discussions In the meantime, installing as user (into ~/.var/app/... directory) can be done with Flatpak command line. I'm not a Flatpak user but it's something like flatpak install --user ....

Re: Webpage Text Size

If you are on Firefox, you can press Ctrl+ to increase zoom.
This affects text but also everything else. There is a setting to make the Zoom "text only".
You can also change font size in Edit / Settings / General / Fonts.

Re: Pressing Windows/Super Key to R click freezing applications like games in fullscreen makes the toolbar disappear

This has been asked many times before and yes, the issue is that Mint behavior is not the same as the Windows behavior, but it's similar so users expect it to be the same. Here's a discussion of the Super key / Menu / Panel issue https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2469303 The freezing issu...

Re: Problem with Dropbox

My installed Visual Studio Code shows Flathub, not flatpak. Yes that's it, I misspoke (Flathub is the repository, Flatpak is the type of package). Try uninstalling VS Code, then download the .deb file from their website and install that one instead. https://code.visualstudio.com/sha/download?build=...

Re: Xfce desktop environment?

It is modified yes, but mostly cosmetic modifications, plus Mint apps that you wouldn't find in a vanilla Xfce.

Keyboard shortcuts should work the same way.

Re: [SOLVED] Removing executable in brackets from Items added to menu

When there are two entries with the same name, Cinnamon menu adds something to disambiguate them. Here's an example Screenshot from 2024-06-15 15-43-19.png It happened to me a lot in the past, I vaguely remember someone else having it too. It can happen when you install the same software in two diff...

Yep, motoryzen is correct, I should have mentioned backing up the cinnamon.css file first!
That's a mistake on my part (just slipped my mind).
Thanks!

Re: Favorite Button Full Size

There might be a way to do that by editing your theme's cinnamon.css file but I don't know which part exactly. Warning: This is just guesswork: The file is in /usr/share/themes/<YOUR THEME>/cinnamon/cinnamon.css . For example if you are using Mint-Y then /usr/share/themes/Mint-Y/cinnamon/cinnamon.cs...

Re: vscode recent list

That's unfortunate. I'll have to try and see where that list is stored and if i can create a small applet or something that brings in that data. If you do so, please consider contributing it to the Cinnamon applet ecosystem, we'd appreciate it  (I assume you're using Cinnamon) Screenshot from ...

Welcome to the Forum. (atom & joplin) I believe those are Electron apps. They do not always follow system theme, and they might have their own theme settings. Electron apps are basically stripped-down versions of the Chromium browser turned into desktop apps. They are not programmed in the deskt...

Marie SWE you should look into Linux distros that are made for older computers. Not Mint. Zorin OS claims they can work on PCs as far as 15 years old: https://zorin.com/os/ Check AntiX, Puppy, Linux Lite, Q4OS, Bodhi https://antixlinux.com/ https://puppylinux-woof-ce.github.io/ https://www.linuxlit...

Re: Unresponsive touchpad during installation of Mint 21.3 from USB

Welcome to the Forum. First, I downloaded the ISO file "linuxmint-21.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso" from the Linux Mint website, followed by downloading balenaEtcher for Windows x64 from their website. I plugged in my USB stick, opened balenaEtcher, flashed the ISO to the USB stick, balenaEtcher ve...
