Re: Dissapearing scrollbars in Mint Cinnamon 19.3

I had that same "problem". I believe this post here is what I used to "fix" it; Dissapearing scrollbars in Mint Cinnamon 19.3 https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=208&t=166000 You may want to check this out also; Scrollbars in Linux Mint Cinnamon http://ensode.net/roller/dheffelfinger/date/2...

Re: Linux mint won't install on new laptop SOLVED

This is a great thread! Especially so whereas I purchased two of these machines. One for the wife and one for the mother-in-law. I knew they were coming with Windows 10 pre-installed but had high hopes of being able to install Linux Mint. Both my wife and my mother-in-law have been running Linux Min...

Re: GIMP?

What is the best way to learn it? Doesn't anyone have a good tutorial? I could use photo shop to some degree years ago, but never bothered upgrading it. I'd like to be able to learn gimp. Thanks, Kamie I found the tutorials on the Gimp website to be quite useful :) https://www.gimp.org/tutorials/

Re: Solution: Installation hangs/freezes/stuck "Preparing to install Linux Mint" third-party software screen

2nd drive works just fine now. Theonly reason I made this post is because having the second drive connected at the time of installation resulted in the installer hanging so I wanted to share I experienced in case other people run into the same problem. I don't think anybody else faces this. I may b...

Every ANTIVIRUS software I have ever installed on any computer did nothing to guard against worms or viruses. Every one has been a source of entry for hackers and continuous demands for more money to the producers.
Could not the same be said for EVERY software installed on a system? Seriously.

Re: Firefox send-archive.zip trips an error from ArchiveManager

I haven't tried out Firefox-Send yet but my first guess would be it may have something to do with the send file being encrypted.

Re: Who did come up with this anti-human anti-linux "security measure" for password requirement in this board?

Can there be more frustrating thing then told over and over again, that Your password is not sufficient (even if that is like 9'some characters in combination of small and big letters and numbers, and then top of all, after you make up some 17 character password, to just use once, as who would reme...

Re: Removed Mint and now only boots to grub

When you deleted the Mint partition it likely deleted the information pointing to the Windows partition boot loader (MBR). Grub may have overwritten the MBR or it may just point to it. Depends on the option chosen during installation. I have had great success using the "boot-repair-disk". If you can...

Re: (Solved)Mint-X theme Scrollbars

The width of the Firefox scrollbar could not be widened: I found this a few days ago in the 'Newbie Questions' section. Unfortunately I did not make a note of the link to the post or the poster but it is likely only a few pages back. This does work to make the Firefox scrollbars wider. in Terminal ...

3) is there a way to pin folder to nemo side bar like quick access in windows?
On my Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon all I have to do is drag and drop a folder icon to the 'Bookmarks' menu on the sidebar.
Is this what you mean?

Re: options and arguments

LM 18.3 Sylvia, Xfce What the difference what an 'option' and an 'argument' using the command line? I looked this up online and the explanation I found is a clear as mud, and leads me to believe they are the same thing. Think of it this way (a thought exercise); Think of the 'commands' you type int...

Re: Linux mint wallpaper

If you open and log in to Synaptic Package Manager, type mint-backgrounds in the quick-search box, you will find all of them. :) This is so great! I've been running Linux Mint for years and did not know the old backgrounds were in the Synaptic Package Manager :/ Thank you richyrich for the informat...

This may not be the same issue the OP is referring to but on my laptop running Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon and on my desktop running Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon I very often have to wait for shutdown with the message of : A stop job is running for User C1 ..... I've run memtest quite a few times and in my experience if there are any errors they show up right away.

Re: New computer (my daughters old one)

Next week I am going to re-install windows on it, since my daughter wants to take it off to a conference, and I don't want her taking her new and very expensive Spectre X360 laptop so she and her friends can watch Netflix and YouTube. I just can't seem to get a stable wifi no matter what I tweak. I...

Odd keyboard behavior

I have noticed an odd behavior of my keyboard with Linux Mint 18.* and 19 and perhaps even 17. Quite frequently my keyboards register the letter < i > twice - as in < ii >. At first I thought it was just my ham-fisted typing. But then I noticed it on my laptop running Linux Mint 19. Still, I thought...

Re: Copy /home directory to fresh install?

Thanks or the replies all41 and gm10.
I was hoping to save some configuration time but I think I rather prefer to keep things neat and tidy.

Hadn't thought of restoring the .hidden files one at a time. I may try a few and see how it goes. Thanks for the tip.

[Solved] Copy /home directory to fresh install?

Hello, Long time Mint user here. About to do a 'fresh' or 'clean' install of Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon 64bit V2 on my Acer laptop which is currently dual booting Mint 18.3 and Manjaro. My question is: will there be any deleterious effects if I make a back-up copy of my /home and then copy it over to th...
