Re: Photo Screensaver in Cinnamon?
It works the same way as the desktop wallpapers that came with Mint. Make a directory with your photo's and choose that directory as the screensaver wallpapers. Change the random time etc. That's the way I did it. But probably there is a real photo-screensaver in some of the repo's. :D How do I do ...

Photo Screensaver in Cinnamon?
I'm a long time Mint user, I just installed Cinnamon after using Mate for quite a while. I was getting my system setup after the install, when I finally got to the point where I wanted to set my screensaver up. I must be missing something, i couldn't find a screensaver that would show a slide show o...

Re: USB Taking over 1 min to Detect on Boot
I have disconnected all usb devices except for the transceiver for my keyboard and mouse, but the problem remains the same. This did not start happening until a couple of days ago. I suspect one of the updates I recently installed. My update history lists the following recent updates: linsnmp-base l...

Re: USB Taking over 1 min to Detect on Boot
I am having the exact same issue, and I do not have any usb storage device plugged in.
Like OP's situation, this didn't start happening until the last day or so, I've had the distro installed for a couple of weeks.

Re: New default browser for Linux Mint
I highly recommend replacing Firefox http://www.hungry-hackers.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/fasterfox.png with Chromium-Browser http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vBTAS8Q6YJM/Svb_ENRBK0I/AAAAAAAAAIo/czDPLeuMzBY/s320/chromium-256.png Chromium-Browser doesn't use much memory. It's amazing how fast it is. It...

I don't supposed I would be surprised.
the Ubuntu forums are pretty tolerant, I've frequently praised Mint there.
But other distros are apt to be jealous of our success, and a little insecure...

Re: Linux Mint Is Fast Because it Doesn't Have Red or Blue?
I've looked at some screenshots and noticed that they're pretty much all green, with only different shades of green, but no reds or blues. My friend told me this is why Linux Mint is so fast - because it takes more CPU power to generate reds and blues, while green is a neutral color , and so the CP...

Re: ext3 to ext4
I'm afraid that I'm confused, how can a partition be described as "ext3"? I have an extended partition in which I have a root and a home and a swap partition. Both the root and home partitions are described in GParted's file system column as "ext4", but the extended partition in ...

OK, so you have a couple of esoteric apps that don't work and you start saying that nothing works? ... might be you mixed my posts with the OP? As he or she didnt mention any apps. I didnt complain and said that i had those problems on a different OS. It wouldnt matter that much, as i agree with th...

Re: Mandriva or Mint
OK, so you have a couple of esoteric apps that don't work and you start saying that nothing works? Then other people try these apps (prolly the 3rd and 4th people to EVER try these apps) and they work perfectly in Mint.
Lame.

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 "stable" release on virtualbox
I installed Karmic just to check it out, I never could get wireless working. It did seem to boot faster, but I also noticed that it took longer for the Grub screen to appear. All in all it wasn't nearly attractive enough to lure me away from Mint. I'm hoping that the Mint team can get the kinks work...

Tellico 2
Tellico 2 has been released. Among other improvements it makes searching at Amazon once again possible.
Any idea when this will hit the repositories?

Re: Amazon search no longer working in Tellico
Within the last few days apparently. It is becoming apparent that we are relying a bit too much on Amazon. But usually they are quite benevolent. They are the largest repository of the info media managers need, they could cut everyone off but they don't. Of course when they do stuff like this it suc...

Re: Amazon search no longer working in Tellico
Amazon isn't "having issues", they've made changes to their api. No program that relies on Amazon will be able to do the things we've grown accoustomed to without at least some changes. Amazon has changed their data API to require that all searches be signed with a secret key, unique to ea...

Amazon search no longer working in Tellico
If you use Tellico you've probably noticed that searching in Amazon is no longer working. If you go here you can let the program developer know that the ability to search Amazon is really important to you. Remember, be polite and respectful. He is developing this program without compensation in his ...
