Re: Any news on Linux Mint 12 LXDE?

The main issue for LXDE for me is auto-login does not work. We have a shared family pc just used for surfing and have no need to lock it, would love to be able to turn it off. Have spent hours trying to do so following different forums posts but no joy.

Re: auto login on LXDE 11, how?

Hi I reinstalled LXDM as suggested, edited the newly installed lxdm.conf file and made no difference to the login. I do not have /etc/gdm3 just /etc/gdm. Any other suggestions? I love Mint LXDM as is much faster than the bloat that has become Ubuntu but the auto login not working is a real pita. Tha...

Fluxbox, xrandr & Screen Resolution

I installed M9 Fluxbox on an old laptop (Dell Inspiron 4000) and I ran xrandr like the wiki says to change the screen resolution. Its a 14" screen so should be capable of displaying 1024 x 768 but according to xrandr the max available is 800*600.

How do I increase the screen resolution?

Thanks.

Uninstall programs from Gloria (Xfce)

I installed Gloria/Xfce on a friends computer but I cannot see how to uninstall some programs. I use Isadora/Gnome myself and can easily right-click on the item in the menu to unistall but in Xfce this just launches the application.

Help Please.

GRUB is a mess, can I edit it?

Hi, GRUB is a mess. When it starts up it displays two different kernels for Mint 7 and two memtests for those kernels along with winXP. Is there anyway of hiding all this and just show Linux & Windows as choice. Same problem exists under Mint 8. I was thinking of deleting some entries from grub....

Re: Suggest Software for Helena

I'm sure it could be listed as Photo Downloader in the menu, many apps seem to change their name in the menu. It is quite Rapid though :) The reason I was looking to have it included was I have been looking for a program like this for the past two years and I'm sure other photographers would be inte...

Suggest Software for Helena

Hi, I would love to see the inclusion of a great photographic import program called Rapid photo Downloader for Helena. There are very few photo import programs in Linux and gThumb is too rigid. Re: Ubuntu 9.10 RC now available

Well as regards function afaik they all work the same. The only difference is Mint is easier to use thanks to its GUI and the fact that it includes all the codecs. If windows XP, Vista & 7 all still looked like win95 or win98 it would be very hard to convince people that there was any improvment...
