Re: Saving web links via drag and drop in file manager

Thanks ibbill. It's not exactly what I want but it does give me a workaround. It seems like drag and dropping urls to the MATE panel is a reliable way to overcome the bugginess of doing the same in the file manager or the desktop. I can then drag and drop from those icons in the panel to Caja. It's ...

Re: [SOLVED] .mkv media player?

Hi deepakdeshp, the reason why some .mkv files play and some do not is because of the type of video format they contain within. Your mediainfo output and your recent mkvtoolnix screenshot shows it is using AV1 and it is likely the stable VLC version 3.0.8 is not able to play that OR the creation of ...

Saving web links via drag and drop in file manager

(I originally posted this in the general software forum but then I realized that this is a better place, when I also now have an update) I'm using Mint 19.3 MATE 64bit and when I drag and drop links from Firefox (the left hand lock icon next to the url) to the Caja file manager, it sometimes saves a...

Re: Firefox always uses 100% cpu idling after some time

yeah it's definitely one of those things which is hard to reproduce as my firefox session can be up for a few days and be fine too. As far as drivers, I don't have any options since I have to rely on the opensource / built-in Intel graphics driver. I kinda wonder if Cinnamon would actually be better...

Re: Firefox always uses 100% cpu idling after some time

Unfortunately I was too quick on the conclusion. I removed the SOLVED tag. It still occurs even without hardware acceleration. I'm becoming more convinced it's either some particular web page or web functionality that triggers it or maybe memory usage On the whole., it's not bad because it seems mos...

Re: [SOLVED] Firefox always uses 100% cpu idling after some time

After disabling Hardware Acceleration in Preferences, I don't get this anymore with Firefox up constantly and my normal routine, so I'm marking this as solved. It must be some kind of buggy interaction (or some kind of web browsing that triggers it) between my old Intel G41 / i915 driver, Xorg/MATE ...

Re: Firefox always uses 100% cpu idling after some time

yes, I'm on v 70.0.1 also, just to keep track for debugging, ltrace gives tons of: <... pthread_mutex_lock resumed> ) = 0 <... clock_gettime resumed> ) = 0 memset(0x7fb86d6062d8, '\345', 8 <unfinished ...> clock_gettime(1, 0x6bba3a80, 0x6d85f910, 0x6bba3ab8) = 0 clock_gettime(1, 0x6bba3a80, 0x773973...

Firefox always uses 100% cpu idling after some time

Hi all still green here, running MATE 19.2, 64-bit, pentium dual core, 4GB RAM, integrated Intel video. When I first launch Firefox and I'm just idling, sitting in the home page / Duckduckgo search page, it barely consumes any cpu as expected. But after some time of using Firefox and leaving it runn...
