Re: Grub not working even after deleting from Windows and using boot repair on Linux

Odd. I was under the impression you had both installed into the same storage drive. Or perhaps you did, and just chose to also nuke one of the drives and install the other os world into it without nuking the 1st one first. If you had already installed LM into a separate drive than Windows, there's n...

Re: Grub not working even after deleting from Windows and using boot repair on Linux

Hey, I'm trying to dual boot Mint and Windows, but Grub won't boot either of them. I made a bootable USB with Windows on it, and deleted Grub (I think) and it still took me to the grub recovery menu. Now when I try to boot Mint, this happens (see image). Can anyone help? Thanks! https://cdn.discord...

Re: where's the "make link"?

Mint 19.3 Cinnamon I want to place on the desktop a shortcut link pointing to a directory in my home directory. Using the file manager gui when I right click on that directory in the home directory I don't see the "make link" that I thought is supposed to be there. Same thing with trying to make a ...

Re: Windows XP source code leaked...

I don't think this is the first time the source code for XP was leaked. Regardless, ah...why should we care again? Read the article. It's a big deal. Not to a person like me who has 1. Moved completely away from Windows dependency. 2. Has no reason to ever use XP let alone any other version ever ag...

Re: LMDE doesn't load

I'll try to keep this short. I installed Linux Mint and like it but I don't like all the updates. It's like having Windows again. So I dowloaded a LMDE4 image and installed it on another computer. All good! However, on my Lenovo ideapad which currently has Linux Mint installed, it boots up the imag...

Loading Mint 20 from DVD, I can see that it is loading something because the light on DVD drive running, when I'm sure it is finished all I have on the screen is a complete blank black screen! Re: Why do new people give up on Linux?

I'm not a complete noob when it comes to computers, just with Linux. And from searching for answers, I find that there is a basic level of understanding that a lot of these threads ASSUME people have. It's just not so. The way I see it, newbies assume that everyone knows that they are newbies... :l...

Re: Linux 20 Cinnamon taskbar

To all, Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! I seem to have a few things conquered (I now have links to Google and LibreOffice Writer in my taskbar). Unfortunately, they are far over on the left, mixed in with the logos for LM, Firefox, etc, and I cannot move them. On my desktop, ...

Re: Try to install...failing

Motoryzen This puzzled me: if you choose " restart now" or whatever restart option it is at the end of the install wizard..you have to time it PERFECTLY as to when the split moment that linux live desktop is fully shut down and the pc has JUST began re-powering back up before or right at you remove...

Re: Trying to install LM but it wants a root partition

I'm on an ASUS, I tried F2 and F12, only the former brings me to the BIOS. F12 does nothing. I'm running out of ideas :( I've enabled legacy mode. I'm brand new to linux. I've got linux mint installed, all drivers are installed. My issu is I have a 1440p monitor and a 4k monitor. Re: Judge Judy

I am binge watching Judge Judy. I just cant get enough of this fiery judge who has a wicked tongue and a truth radar. She can sense if someone is lying to her. Re: A question about the basic of linux mint live session

The USB ISO "live session" stick is intended for taking Linux Mint out for a test drive BEFORE you ever try to install it on your computer. It was not designed "out of the box" to download "huge applications", programs etc. to the USB, which can also be limited as to what you try to download and tr...
