Re: Lost internet Linux Mint 20.2

When I ping www.amazon.com , I get: Name or service not known. Working on getting a screenshot of ifconfig to attach in this reply window... Ok..now try pinging the ip address in numerical format and see if the results are different... IF it works...that makes me curious of whatever deals with the ...

There's also a graphical interface, youtube-dlg, see https://www.how2shout.com/linux/how-to- ... 20-04-lts/

Despite the name, it can also download videos from anywhere, not just youtube, if you provide the url.

Re: How do I replace Cinnamon with i3wm or any tiling WM?

I'm going to state what should be obvious here. ANY..time you are considering trying anything risky with your PC, always do multiple backups....first. Facts don't care about anyone's feelings, and when the data is gone or the ability to boot is bricked or nuked...that's all she wrote. 1. System imag...

ssd hard drive It's either a ssd, or it is a hard drive..otherwise..you're talking about a hybrid drive in which more than 80% of the storage capacity...total of the physical drive is a spinning disc hard drive and a small portion is nand flash with a controller ( basically...ssd) which are most co...

This means
Linux mint 20.4
 :D There is no such thing as 20.4...20.3 is in "production" and isn't even launched as beta yet :P

I get it..you had your mind on how Ubuntu names their versions ( 20.04, 21.04)

Re: Freezing 1-3 times every day and randomly restarting itself

Yes I would definitely contact Dell given it's still under warranty...No laptop should be misbehaving that way Regarding that screen shot. Thanks for providing that, but that settings screen/menu doesn't have anything about whether it's treating your PC In power saver mode..or performance or balance...

frank84 I cannot clearly confirm that mine will be dual channel As long as that particular PC's motherboard is working as it should and the ram is dual channel ( which chances are unless you buy some sort of server grade ram or ram meant to compliment the AMD EPYC cpu lineup...it will be dual channe...

Thus pyotrquackington type your user name, press enter, then type your password ( even if you might not see extra characters or a moving cursor to indicate that character or characters have been typed..do it anyways...) , press enter .... Then we take it from there. Try to calm down and breath. Peop...

Re: Why does netwroming in Mint have to do so difficult?

Been using Mint for about 10 years now, and networking has never been easy or intuitive. I have 3 laptops and 2 desktop computers that at times will interconnect but often not - even when nothing has changed. Today I was planning on updating my kitchen computer to Mint 20.2 from 20.1, no problem ri...

Re: Freezing 1-3 times every day and randomly restarting itself

Thanks for your suggestion. No problem. 5.11 is newer than 5.4. Kernel 5.4 gets security updates for the life of Linux Mint, but it doesn't get a lot of new features, which are necessary for newer CPUs. At some point, 5.11 will be replaced by a newer kernel in 2022 but in the meantime it wit will r...

I'm sorry to sound the least bit argumentative...but KadaitchMan's point is probably most on point here. Also many laptops don't even kick on the fan until they hit over a certain temp mark such as 60c or higher depending on the brand/make/model. I found this https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us...

Change only happens when the pain of doing nothing outweighs the pain of change. It doesn't matter how many "points" you make for them they won't change until they're willing to exit their comfort zone Well put. I couldn't agree more. It's a very similar/coherent point Dave Ramsey makes w...

CallmeJames CPU- Intel Celeron n4020 @1.10GHz Boost 2.80GHz I'm curious if power saving mode is what is enabled/running in your attempts in Linux Mint or LMDE versus Balanced or Performance in Win 10. Perhaps you'd consider going to Software Manager and installing cpupower-gui and change the main se...
