Re: Sometimes, the Developer needs to review their work

My latest example started yesterday - an arduino project, sensor on central heating oil tank (powered by battery plus solar cell) talks via wifi to another arduino acting as a web server (on 24/7), tells me how much oil I have left. Worked flawlessly for a couple of months, takes readings 8am, noon...

Simpler? I'm not sure..but I know two methods or backups are always better than one

Timeshift snapshot targeting a separate ssd + a Foxclone system image backup targeting another separate ssd = more peace of mind

Re: it wont let me choose my drive

I am not sure of your exact scenario..so I wonder which of the numbers I'll list below your scenario is involved in. 1. You really should consider installing Linux Mint into a separate physical drive than the one Windows is already installed into ( I assume that is the case because you mentioned sel...

They don't sell Linux laptops. Its either closed source Apple and Microsoft. I'm unsure at the moment who you are referring to as " they" but System76 has been selling Linux ( usually Pop_OS ) installed computers for many years now Dell has sold some Ubuntu installed laptops in the past b...

spamegg has been on this site helping many people for many years and I haven't any reason to distrust her suggestion(s) Regardless, you should make a backup copy of that cinnamon.css file to a separate partition or drive or another folder before editing it. I've seen people really screw up some majo...

Re: Cinnamon pix and nemo crashes

1. Create a timeshift snapshot targeting a separate ssd, then name it something like " before kernel 6.5", ( of course you also have the option to do a system image backup using Foxclone which is an awesome user friendly software bootable tool . AndyMH is the main dev of it and also an act...

Re: I replaced my HDD for SSD and bought a data xfer cable - cannot open drive. Please help.

Do I have to mount this drive to read it?
Any drive be it a usb thumb drive, ssd of any physically connective way or a hdd must be mountable and mounted in order for you to , at least the gui ways I and most others can think, be able to read and write data to and from it

Re: Can't install or remove kernels

If all else fails, and don't rush or jump the gun just yet...., you may need to just sigh...and do a clean install to start over Then..don't install any kernels any other way except for doing a sudo apt install kernel-oem-22.04# -y( # = a letter ) OR via Update Manager. I've seen too many cases just...

I just read somewhere that it's a good choice since the option 1 might a bit too old (Most gamers do like the newest stuff, right?) Well sometimes the latest and greatest..ISN'T the way to go in the end....but regardless.if it is..you can still get there via option one as Steam will still auto chec...

1. I read somewhere else that the flash drive could be a problem. With you comments and the other article I went ahead and just used a new flash drive. I've noticed a few sandisk brand black usb 3.0 thumb drives of years ago have crapped out of me recently..Weird..as I thought they were a long term...

Re: Thunderbird MultiXpunge via keyboard

I think the only return needed is the final one. I notice that it seems important exactly where the focus is in Thunderbird, too, when this runs. If any folder is focused, this shortcut simply ends up moving the focus four folders lower. This is where I'd make use of mousemove in the xdotool comman...

Anytime you are putting Linux into the same physical drive Windows already lives in = a recipe for problems waiting to happen. I have made an interesting discovery though, that the problem ONLY occurs if the folder is a subdirectory of /home/leigh/Desktop/ If I move it to another location, all is well. Weird!!! I'll flag it as <Solved - sort of> Well perhaps look at it this way...This is more encouragement not to clutter u...

Without going way too much off topic, can these scripts also include Firefox settings and the sorts of that, or just general OS, apps and related? Technically, yes. When it comes to that part...You need to make your own notes meaning in order of operations of commands. Let's say you needed to launc...

Partition: ID-1: / size: 7.75 GiB used: 387.4 MiB (4.9%) fs: overlay source: ERR-102 That has me curious about that thumb drive. I see about 8GB partition there. Did you select " Something else " and partition..out 8 GB on that samsung 860 evo ssd? If so...don't worry with separate partit...
