Re: The list of sources could not be read - error

I tried this command (after reading a forum post): sudo xed /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list Then a file called „additional-repositories.list” opened, and inside it I could see: deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ focal main deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu...

Re: Appimages on USB stick - does format matter?

Most of my USB sticks are formatted FAT32 (by default). Does the format matter when using an appimage in the way I intend? Do I need to wipe and reformat a USB stick as ext4 in order to then run the Avidemux software in Mint? It looks like it is not possible to set the execution bit on the appimage...

to remove completely
package X, you could open synaptic, search for X, right-click on it and, "Mark for Complete Removal" and "Apply" in the toolbar.
Hoping that is what you are looking for.

Re: ClamAV GUI vs CLI Results

To my knowledge, this has only happened in Linux Servers that are serving other platforms as mail and file servers etc. such as Windows, Macs. I have never heard of, nor seen this ever happen in a normal Linux home use situation. I know of no virus/malware scanner that is made for home users that d...

I want to remove Win10 but save it for posterity on a smaller 250GB hdd.
It was long time ago I cloned a Windows system but I think the below article might give you some ideas as to how to go about doing it:

Be also aware that any Windows malware will not effect a Linux OS in anyway...They will only effect another Windows OS or possibly a Mac OS...They are harmless and effectively neutered in a Linux OS...DAMIEN Hi DAMIEN1307, I know that the risk of infection for a linux desktop is almost next to zero...

Re: ClamAV GUI vs CLI Results

Frankly I am not that familiar with the working of clamtk. I just know that it might give many false postivies when scanning for PUP is enabled. I am not sure how to delete those files from within the GUI. Perhaps another forumer will step in.

Could it be that you have scanning for PUP (potentially unwanted program) enabled in the GUI?

That's essentially how Clear Linux by Intel works, everything for that is containerised including the desktop environments.
I like the concept. Another item on my look-into list.

If it bothers you that much sandbox it. Hi Hoser Rob When I saw the title of this topic, I wondered if there is any method to sandbox an appimage. My initial search was not that encouraging. I found a youtube video from 4 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C9thHXPZd8 Is that what you are r...

Re: Installed windows in other partition and no grub mint menu

If you have installed Windows after Linux Mint, the most probable cause of the issue is that it has overwritten the mbr of the disk and therefore Mint's bootloader is gone. I guess you would need to restore it using a live USB. Please post the output of this command: sudo parted -l
