Re: Kernel Update 5.0.0.37.95 to 5.3.0.26.95 Kills Video Drivers

Is it safe to assume the 390.129 Nvidia driver update, should fix the upgrade to the 5.3 kernel? As in I'll be able to have a normal resolution?

I was running the 390.108 driver when I previously attempted the update.

Re: Kernel Update 5.0.0.37.95 to 5.3.0.26.95 Kills Video Drivers

What's a good rule of thumb for this newb? Just ignore the kernel upgrades in software updates and wait until there's a new mint release?

Re: Kernel Update 5.0.0.37.95 to 5.3.0.26.95 Kills Video Drivers

I'm pretty new to Linux and figured most updates are good. Are we confident that it's the kernel that's breaking the video drivers?

What's a good rule of thumb when it comes to updates? And kernel updates?

I guess I'm just use to Windows updates and figured I should install them all.

Re: Kernel Update 5.0.0.37.95 to 5.3.0.26.95 Kills Video Drivers

I had the same experience, these updates killed my Nvidia driver and made navigating difficult. Had to restore a Timeshift to get back to normal. Until today, no issues with updates. Not sure which one of these updates wrecked it. Guess I'll hold off for now unless anyone has any ideas. Linux Kernel...

Samba to my chromebook

So I'd like to share my home folder to my chromebook. I have samba set up and my chromebook can see it when I add file share. It asks username and password, which I supply, and I says, 'error mounting share. Please check your credentials and try again'. Before anyone says, are you trying the right u...

Re: Cronopete Help

When I tried running it under other users it wants to reformat the destination drive, but it's already formatted for when it runs under my account.

Re: Cronopete Help

Ha, I'll take whatever help I can get. I assume I can just log in as my other users and configure it.

If there's an easy way in terminal let me know. I'd like to keep using Cronopete.

Cronopete Help

I really like the simplicity of Cronopete for my backup solutions but noticed a problem. I'd like to have it backup all my users home directories and just run under my profile. Is that even possible? I tried and I get errors in the log regarding denied permissions (for all my other users folders) Wh...
