[solved] what do we do with an app image after downloading it.

If I download software as an appimage what do I need to do then to make the file into a usable program and to create an icon for it on the desktop ( assume it has an icon buried in t...

[solved] How to make the forum text bigger.

Based on my combination of graphics card, driver and screen I would like to make the text size on this forum a little bigger. I have tried clicking on the button for large and I just get "size= "or something like that in my text. The size does not change. What am I doing wrong and can the text size ...

Mint dependant on Debian rather than Ubuntu

I am not sure that being dependant on Ubuntu is such a good idea.

Can anyone expand on the idea of building Mint directly from Debian?

I have no idea about what would be involved but I would love to know what Mint
has to say about that subject.

Re: [solved] How to put the time in the task bar

Thanks for that It worked fine and I now have my Linux Mint20 almost where I was before doing a full reinstall from 18.3. It has been quite a ride and I intend to stick with 20 for quite a while. The biggest problem was with getting samba to see my 32 bit WinXP network. because samba assumed that ev...

[solved] How to put the time in the task bar

I have recently installed Mint 20 and I must have missed the bit about the time being displayed in the task bar - bottom right hand corner. I have searched in preferences for an option to do this but have not found the correct option to accomplish this. Could someone give me the low down on how to d...

Sorry that was my mistake.

I copied over a .doc file and Linux could see it with no problem

When I checked again from my windows network i could not see the
.docx file either this time. Don't know what happened there.

Cant use my printer on a windows network

I am doing a separate post for this topic as it is slightly different question. When I did a clean reinstall of mint 20 from mint 18.3 I was unable to see my windows network. This presumably means that this is the reason I cannot see my network printer which is run from a WiFi connection in order to...

The real intent of the SAMBA service

I am running Linux Mint 20 cinnamon on my 64 bit machine and did a complete reinstall from the image that I copied to a thumb drive. My previous version was Linux mint 18.3 and i skipped over version 19. All went well and even my banking passwords were preserved. However I am unable to see my window...

[ solved ] How to burn a CD

I recently switched from mint 18.3 cinnamon and did a fresh install of the new Mint 20

I need to burn a CD

What program should I get because the software manager only had packages for other interfaces.

Can I get Nero from a website?

Re: Linux 20 cannot see my network

I should mention that the Mint 20 was a clean installation as there was no recognised
way of upgrading from Mint 18.3.

I am using the cinnamon interface in both cases.
