gnome calendar

I have this installed, I originally just wanted to put in some dates, but I would like to use the "birthdays and anniversaries" calendar. But, I can't get it to switch from "personal" to "birthdays". I have both calendars checked, but the only calendar I can add a date to is personal. Am I right I s...

Smart Phone?

I got to thinking, I bought a refurb laptop with Win 10 on it. When I installed Mint, I wiped Win off the map. I have this smart phone, it's actually a rather cheap smart phone, that came loaded with Google, Chrome, and everything is tied to google somehow. Is there a "Mint" offering for smart phone...

Re: Making Desktop Shortcuts

Sorry for not responding earlier. I tried everything discussed here, nothing appeared to work. Since I could go to the menu and click it from there, I resolved myself to that was the procedure. Well, I had to do an update and when I restarted, I had about 6 desktop links to Guvciew! I have no idea w...

Making Desktop Shortcuts {RESOLVED}

I've searched to find a simple way to make a desktop shortcut for an application, and nothing seems to work. I have installed Guvcview, and it's working, but would like a shortcut on my desktop. I have them for Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, but can't get this to make a shortcut. I right click t...

Re: Data Usage App/Program

Do I assume Etherape is the same as vnstat where it is a command line interface? It won't launch via the software manager.

Re: Data Usage App/Program

The only thing I see on the program manager description for vnstat, is "Console-Based Network Traffic Monitor". When the program was installed it showed the usual green LAUNCH. To be honest, if you're not looking to learn something new and you've not used the Command Line before, best stick with som...

I installed vnstat via the software manager, and it will not launch when I click the green "launch".
vnstat is a command line program.
What does a command line program mean? How do you run it and access it?

Data Usage App/Program

I did a search here and on line for a program that would track data usage upload and download, and didn't find but one. The one I found gave a terminal link to install it, but it found nothing.

Being on a plan that has a monthly cap, it would be nice to keep an eye on things. Any suggestions?

Re: SD Card Not Mounting

Just to add to this thread, as mentioned in the last post, I picked up a USB memory card adapter and it worked great. Maybe there is a glitch in the card reader slot on these T-430s.

Re: SD Card Not Mounting

Well I made one of those posts some time ago. I checked the format and it was FAT32, as is this one. It was suggested I get a new SD card, which I did and this one has done fine, until now. Maybe I'll get one of those adapters to USB, I don't think they are expensive.

SD Card Not Mounting

I hope this is the right forum for this. I recently did a system update, not sure if that was the cause, but every several days I pull the SD card from my game camera and look it over. I use either PIX or gThumb to review it, but it the card would also show up in the home folder. Today, it does not ...

Re: Update Manager Issue

Update Manager came back up with no updates needed, so it worked. There was some updates showing before, but perhaps it will refresh soon. Thanks!
