Re: Maleware

ChazB - congratulations for finding a pretty rare occurrence on the internet - I have only seen this once (on MY screen) in my 11 years of using Linux Mint on a daily basis both at work and at home!!! The screenshot you posted is designed to cause you to think you have malware on your computer but y...

Re: Installer not recognizing free disk space?

How do I do that? I don't have anything on the computer. Also, what is a partition? When I first started to experiment with Linux (and knew almost nothing), I got a small inexpensive computer (with WinXP on it) to use as a test bed. A computer with NO important data on it that came with a restore C...

Re: Trying to update from 18 to 19.2 asks for pwd

Oz; So, if you're really the only user on the computer, then you MUST be an administrative user. If you can log in to your user to get to the desktop (and the terminal and Mint update), you MUST know the (administrative) password for your user... But before you upgrade, you might want to consider ho...

Re: Installer not recognizing free disk space?

Chickadee - the installer is referring to unallocated space that is available on the HD. In order to get more unallocated space, you will either shrink or remove 1 or more existing partitions. IFF you don't care about the existing operating system, you can also have the installer install mint on the...

Re: Gently un-addict a NAV user!

I've been using Linux Mint full time at home and at my office since 2011. I have never used any AV software and have never gotten any malware on any of my computers. I don't know anyone running Linux who has. I haven't even heard of an actual virus on a Linux machine "in the wild" (although it IS po...

Re: Microsoft will now use Linux Kernel in Win 10

Like most things in the world, it's good news and bad news... The good news might be that there will likely be better manufacturer hardware support for Linux especially for "new" hardware!... Another piece of good news might be an API for Win Software to run on Linux or maybe software written to run...

Printing to default printer in Mint 19

I use the Cinnamon version of Linux Mint... In my previous version of Mint (17), when I click the print icon on the icon bar, the system would print the document I had open to the default printer... If I wanted to print to another printer, I would use the menu bar File > Print > choose a printer and...
