Re: Catweazel - over and out

Catweasel; Don't leave - if you do, the Mint forums will lose a valuable resource . If you don't think you can run with the young bucks, that's OK... but don't leave, just change job descriptions!... they're are taking applications for the Mint forum counsel of elders... That group of users that may...

Re: Want to delete second Mint 18.3 system

OK, so GRUB is typically in 2 parts. The first part is installed on the boot record of SDA. The second part resides (typically) on one of the partitions or drives with a distro on it. There is a pointer in the first part telling it where the rest of GRUB is. That pointer points to 1 disk and 1 parti...

Re: Want to delete second Mint 18.3 system

In multiple disk systems, I frequently end up wondering where GRUB resides. One easy way to determine is to disconnect SDC and see if the system will boot. If it does, then no part of GRUB resides on SDC and you can wipe it and use it for whatever you like. If the system does not boot, then at least...

85 year old answer - it's none of your business. The OP wants a VPN.
Of course it isn't! I was just trying to undo any potential tinfoil hat-ism!
Mine's always on.
Mine too but I've got the upgraded tinfoil 2.0 - it's auto regulating with a manual override...

Re: Laptop overheating with Linux Mint 19 "Tara" Cinnamon

Based on your description, it sounds as thought the problem is not a graphic/rendering issue... Consider opening System Monitor and have a look at the Processes and Resources tabs to try to get a better idea as to what is the source of the issue... It sounds like your CPU is working hard at time tha...

Re: Things I Love About LinuxMint 19

It's repetitive, but I just cannot believe how much snappier Cinnamon is under 19 than it ever was before. +1 to that! However, the thing which occasioned this post in the first place is the new (new I think) Timeshift utility. I had to step and fetch a disk to dedicate to this, mind you, but once ...

Re: Moving Thunderbird profile to newer Mint verson

You may want to copy it over Before opening the new computers Thunderbird to avoid two profiles . If you already opened the new TB then copy the contents of xxx.default in TB to the new xxx.default Alternatively, if you already have a TB profile because you opened TB but there is nothing of any val...

- Mepis

as both of those Linux Systems are designed for those Older PCs.

LXLE is another good choice. It calls itself a "Full featured OS for an aging PC."

Norbert; I have been using Mint happily since Isadora! I am new to Timeshift though. I have never used it until the Mint 19 Beta. I installed the Beta for testing into a 100 GB partition. There was a bunch of unallocated space left on the drive. After reading a bit about Timeshift, I thought it migh...
