Re: Some help here. -New partial fix...
pressing any F# key with Fn does nothing re WIFI on my laptop? Anyway, I just had an offer from a very good tech-savvy friend to set me up with a desktop he doesn't use. It has an SSD drive and Win10 Pro installed... Since I currently own an older but still VG laser printer, ditto a separate scanner...

Re: No help here..Back to MS?
Hi greywoulf, I just read your post and some of the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well. The wonderful Linux Mint forums are free forums, so depending upon your questions and the availability of people, you may get a quick answer and you might not. Sometimes, creating another r...

Thanks to all here who have submitted suggestions re my no-connection problems. It's encouraging to (finally :>)} get so many nice responses... I've yet to get the 'wireless' back but have recently been able to reconnect via a LAN wired system. Restarting Mint 19.3 Cinnamon's Network Manager unfortu...

Wireless connection disappeared from Cin 19- 389?
I think maybe it's a Linux Mint Cinnamon update to 3.8.9, which now refuses to accept my wireless connection? Mint internet wireless was running great before, but now when I open "Network" in the menu it will only give me "Wired", which I cannot connect to my Fios with... In &quo...

Updated to an invalid "WIRED" internet connection?

Is the Canon 3520 wireless printer/scanner compatible with Mint Cinnamon?
There's a nice sale on the Canon 3520 small wireless printer, scanner, and copier. Would it hook up and work OK with my Mint Cinnamon software on my Toshiba laptop? Is there perhaps a list available as to what printers will work OK with this software?
Thanks,
Greywoulf

What's with this "Nemo" anyway?
OK, thanks to some very helpful folks on this forum I got my Cinnamon's Menu option back. But why was it modified at all, and seemingly done so poorly it didn't work right? I mean, I get this msge from 'Nemo" (which now I understand is the file manager) saying it doesn't want to use the Menu de...

Re: Lost the Menu??? Then lost the Computer section too??
Thanks guys, it worked! The Menu is back and opening OK, and also I now understand more about adjusting things via using the lower panel! By the computer 'section' I meant clicking on the desktop's Computer icon. It seemed to not be opening certain things anymore. But now when I right-click it I do ...

Re: Lost the Menu??? Then lost the Computer section too??
You need to tell us what version on Mint? 19.x 18.x? And Cinnamon, Mate, or Xfce? OK, sorry... It's Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon, Version 3.8.9 I'm using Chrome, and sometimes LXquick and Firefox as browsers. But mostly Chrome... And my initial password is set to a blank space, but a password is required...

SOLVED! Lost the Menu??? Then lost the Computer section too??
The Menu icon in the lower panel toolbar disappeared! (Why? -Who knows?) So I opened the Computer section and tried resetting the show Menu toolbar option there in the View area, but to no avail. And then the Computer section 'changed' and no longer opened up to the View options section, but now onl...

Misunderstanding my forum search options?
My forum searches here return too much, giving me every post with a single matching word instead of looking for a matched whole phrase...

{SOLVED} Times out too quickly for me..
Can I increase the interval time before Mint times out an opened screen?
Also, my forum search returned too much; every item with "time" or "out" in it. How can I search for a complete term like "time out"?
Thanks,

Well my 20 yr old (aprox?} e-machine PC using Win-XP finally bit the dust. Helpful daughter gave me a newer old [but excellent] laptop with Linux Mint Cinnamon innit and now this ~old~ geezer has to start learning new stuff again! Oh well... So far am greatly enjoying the new simplicity and wonderfu...
