Re: Laptop: dual boot installation with Win 10

A swap file is automatically created starting with Mint 19. Swap files are more flexible because you can resize them without changing other partitions. There is no need for a swap partition anymore. If you are installing an older Mint (which you shouldn't be doing anyway), you can create a swap file...

Re: exFAT - No mount object for mounted volume

It has a "Windows 7" sticker on it so I think it was upgraded from that.
Do I choose "Windows 8" or "Windows 8 (Upgrade from Windows 7)"?

Re: exFAT - No mount object for mounted volume

Wait a minute.
My USB thumb drive works now. It's exFAT.
My Hard Drive works on NFTS but not exFAT with Linux.
I have no clue how my USB stick is working.

I'm sorry but I can't use GPT either.
I have to use MBR.

I just tried NFTS and FAT, same error.
The + button returns the same error as before.
This hard drive is for Windows also.
I have to use exFAT because I am storing files over 4GB. (NFTS doesn't work with my Nintendo Wii. I use the drive for that as well. :) )

Also my exFAT USB stick doesn't work as well, so it's not my hard drive's fault.

Re: exFAT - No mount object for mounted volume

I zapped the drive, went to Windows, formatted to NFTS and then I booted into Mint. Mint saw the drive and opened the drive folder. I could go into the drive. But the thing is, I need to use exFAT. So I went to Disks to format to exFAT but it gave me the same errors :( I really have no clue why this...

My swap is here:

I didn't create a swap partition because it's not needed.
