Printer waste bin almost full

I have been using Linux Mint 19.3 for several months, with a Canon MG 3650 all in one printer/scanner/copier. I have just started to get an error message when initiating a print job. Two messages actually. They read 'printer waste bin almost full' and 'marker waste bin almost full'. Printing does no...

Re: Scanner Not Found - Canon TS6250

I also had this problem with my Canon MG 3650. I found a hint which worked: add a rule to the firewall: sudo ufw allow from [printer IP address].

Re: Impressions - All Linux household after 3 weeks.

Sorry, thats sudo ufw allow from [IP address] It appears in the firewall configuration as rule ANYWHERE ALLOW IN [IP address] Hope it doesn't compromise security. All devices of this model seem to have the same IP address. A remaining security improvement I would like to make is to move the printer ...

Re: Impressions - All Linux household after 3 weeks.

Wi-fi scanning success!

From another post on this site:

sudo ufw allow [printer/scanner IP address]

solved it.

Re: Impressions - All Linux household after 3 weeks.

Thanks, yes ctrl+p in Firefox works and after selecting some text the radio button for Selection is activated (although it doesn't work on this text in this window though, for some reason). In Chrome, I've just noticed that within Print, More Settings, Options, there is a Selection only option, whic...

Re: Impressions - All Linux household after 3 weeks.

Oh, sorry, another point! Printing just highlighted and selected text and images from Firefox and Chrome. Is there any way of doing this? Ctrl+shift+P in Firefox opens a private tab, and within Chrome, although the link to this is at the bottom of the printing set up column, under more settings, it ...

Re: Impressions - All Linux household after 3 weeks.

Thanks very much for the various replies and suggestions. 1. Pix - I've now, eventually, found the edit button - a tiny, grey-on-grey pencil symbol at the top right of the screen - when everything else is on the left - not ideal for a 72-year old with deteriorating vision! The functions there are pr...

Re: Impressions - All Linux household after 3 weeks.

We're not quite a total Linux household yet - but I have my eyes on my wife's laptop! I converted the first laptop at Christmas, and the second a week or so ago. I'd bought the first one in 2013 with Windows 7 installed. I progressively updated it to W8 then W10, but it had become impossibly slow, a...

Re: Font size in a couple of places, and disabling secure boot.

Further to my post - thanks for the reassurance about secure boot - think I'll leave well alone, for now anyway. Regarding type size - display resolution seems to be the underlying issue. My old laptop is 1368 x 768, whereas my new one, which I had the problem with, was set at 1920 x 1080. Reducing ...

[SOLVED] Font size in a couple of places, and disabling secure boot.

I've just installed Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon as a replacement OS on a new ASUS laptop, which was purchased with Windows 10, which is now obliterated. (I made a USB repair drive and extracted the product licence key first.) I have previously successfully installed it on an older Toshiba laptop in the...

Re: Disk partitioning

Thanks for the replies so far. Sorry for being inaccurate with my terminology - yes, I should have said that the disk has only one partition. Doesn't sound as if that's a significant issue though. Thanks for the info. about changing the desktop launcher icons - I've been able to substitute a number ...

Disk partitioning [SOLVED]

Hello, I've just installed Mint 19.3 Cinnamon on a seven year old laptop which I bought with Windows 7. Intel i3 with 4Mb RAM. Over the years since buying it I allowed upgrades to Windows 8 then 10, but it had become painfully slow - go off and make a cup of tea while it booted up, etc., and unusabl...
