CPU not throttling fully down

Hi all, When running mint this laptop is more noisy than when running Windows. In windows while idle the CPU gets throttled all the way down to 800, temp drops to the mid 30's and the fan is then inaudible. In Mint it never bottoms out even though the CPU use is running at 1-4% , the CPU is hotter a...

Airplane mode after boot

Hi,

Is there any way I can stop mint enabling WiFi on my laptop after every boot? I'd like it to reboot with what ever the state of WiFi was at shutdown. Failing that up in airplane mode every time would be preferable to turning it on.

Thanks

Re: glib-2.0 vs libglib2.0

Thank you thx-1138, that did the trick (ddcutil) :)

Noted thanks trytip, I'll have a go at dddui when I can spare a bit of time.

Cheers

Re: glib-2.0 vs libglib2.0

Bump. (This is still driving me nuts).

I found a more recent build in this ppa but that only gets me to 0.9.2 for Ubuntu Bionic. Still 2 years out of date and no build of ddcui.

Any help greatly appreciated

glib-2.0 vs libglib2.0

Hi, I am trying to build the latest version of ddcutil (the version in the software repo is 2 years out of date). Step 1 of the build instructions is to run ./configure , this quits with the following error: configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.32) were not met: No package 'glib-2.0...

ssd raid not detected as ssd

Hi, I have 19.3 Mate freshly installed on a pair of ssd drives (RAID 1) connected to an adaptec 6405 raid card, there's only one partition and it is btrfs. btrfs looks at sys/block/DEV/queue/rotational to decide whether a device is solid state in order to enable optimisations if it finds 0. On my sy...

Re: Slow boot - 22 minutes!

Hi again rene, I looked at changing the partition mounted as /boot as you suggested but both partitions have the same uuid: /dev/sdc1: UUID="9545835a-3325-4cb5-a949-a03564abb27a" TYPE="ext4" PARTUUID="48303152-01" /dev/sdc2: UUID="72486d35-f7f9-b8d2-ae7f-e6b1369059de" UUID_SUB="be4061b1-eaca-6858-5e...

Re: Slow boot - 22 minutes!

Thanks rene, I've figured out why the blacklist didn't work - sort of! I have two SSDs in a RAID1 but mdraid doesn't work at boot. To get round that the first 2Gb of each disk is my boot partition. They are not in any way RAID, they are normal bootable partitions and they are supposed to be identica...

Re: Installing Mint 19.3 on Raid 5

Hi Konaan, I don't think you can have a raid boot in mint, I spent a looong time trying! I have a raid1 setup but my 1gb boot volume is not part of the raid. If the first disk fails the 2nd contains a copy and is also bootable*. The mdraid volume (499Gb) becomes available late on in the boot as does...
