Re: Problem with plank docklet

Hello, if I'm understanding your question right, to show the list of applications in plank you need to "right" mouse click on the icon, not left click like one would normally think. I had the same problem with the applications menu when I added it to the dock. Hope that helps.

Re: Software to Convert DVD to MP4 or other conversions <SOLVED>

You should be able to download it here: https://github.com/swl-x/MystiQ/releases/download/continuous/MystiQ-master--603-x86_64.AppImage . It appears the original website to download from was removed. The link I provided is from their github source. Oh, and be sure you also have ffmpeg packages insta...

Re: Software to Convert DVD to MP4 or other conversions <SOLVED>

Agreed when it comes to Handbrake. A great website where I installed it from was found here: https://www.tweaking4all.com/video/rip-dvd-blu-ray/linux-handbrake-copy-a-dvd-to-mp4-or-mkv-file/ . Though it's an older article, it worked for me on LM20 to get the latest install as well as all the require...

The above post by LanceM is confirmed working. Worked on my PC and my daughter's PC. Apparently from what I've read, this should be fixed in the next update.

Re: Return Ownership To Root

I ran into a similar situation on my daughter's PC, and this older post really helped out allowing me to restore privileges back to root as well as myself. User gm10 states it correctly as this was what I used to restore root. I couldn't do anything in my system - couldn't run sudo commands, couldn'...

Re: Mouse Pointer Moves to upper left part of the screen every minute

Hello, typically I see this myself on my touchscreen.... usually a good cleaning of the screen while the PC is off is a good start. Usually my mouse cursor will jump (sometimes erratically). I solve this by cleaning the screen. Usually when dust piles up in a particular spot, it will generate more h...

I agree as well...I took my time (and so did my PC during the upgrade  ), followed all instructions, and had zero problems - well all but one but is deal-able....my system will sometimes hang when entering suspend or restarting, but I have reason to believe it's a kernel thing which I'm sur...

Re: Ripping DVDs to .iso [Not Solved]

I'm wondering as well, if maybe some technical/ mechanical issue is going on with your DVD Rom Drive? could be a possibility....especially to get errors on it. Maybe the Optical lens could be dirty? Sorry I cannot be of much more service to you....best of luck and hope you find a solution! :)

Re: Ripping DVDs to .iso [Not Solved]

In general, the command would look like: dd if=/dev/cdrom of=image_name.iso So, I'm not sure what the problem may be....With no offense to be taken as I'm trying to help you, and not trying to insult you in anyway shape or form....but is there a disc to test in your CD / DVD rom tray? I just tried i...

Also, I should point out that the image file would be placed in your "Home" folder on Mint 19.3.

Re: Ripping DVDs to .iso [Not Solved]

Hmmm....did you open up the program Disks to determine the device name/ location of your DVD ROM Drive? Like I said, on mine, is is located as dev/sr0......your's maybe different.....maybe it could be dev/sr1 for example (don't use that, you'll have to figure out...the device name/location in the fo...

Re: Ripping DVDs to .iso [Not Solved]

Hello, I used the following command through terminal (works quickly and flawlessly), I was having issues too awhile back with ripping DVD's to ISO. Giving a heads up, "IMAGE.iso" should be the name of the ISO file to which you plan to name - so make sure you change the name, otherwise, you...

Re: Another garbage news release - Linux is the worst OS, vulnerable to crashing

Also, may I add that this sounds like an attempt for Microsoft and their fan base to sway customers/ clients back after their abandonment of the Windows 7 OS - as many users ended up migrating to different various Linux Distros. When I read an article that highlighted Windows 7 end of support, sever...

Re: Another garbage news release - Linux is the worst OS, vulnerable to crashing

I've read that article, and it's a bunch of bull....There's Windows, releasing how many updates/ patches daily to correct vulnerabilities? Never lone, updates that are supposed to fix certain issues only breaking them further....i.e. the search menu missing, deleting user files, etc. Interesting eno...

Re: Wi-Fi Connection of Computer & Printer

Hi Bob M, I ran into the same issue with Cinnamon 19.3. I have a Canon MG3520. I spent hours tracking down and installing drivers along with Scangear, and with no success. I was able to use the wireless printer wirelessly, however, had no luck with the scanner and scanning portion. However, a simple...

BEST solution 100% working! Man, if you want to control screensaver in Mint 19 xfce, simply type in terminal: sudo apt-get install xscreensaver* do not forget * on the end  , this install all screensaver components if you not have Matrix-GL, type in terminal: sudo apt-get install xscreensaver...

Re: Can not download or update packages - broken packages

I'm a newbie to Linux myself, and I ran into the same issue myself.... but what I did was use a restore point before I updated drivers using Timeshift, and restored everything right before the update. I then disabled the PPA, as I'm already happy with what I have on my system from the oibaf reposito...
